GM cuts funding for Saturn

General Motors has cut off new product funding to its lame-duck Saturn brand, a source close to GM says. The automaker announced last week that, as a part of its bid for low-interest federal loans, it will close or sell its Saturn unit. Most analysts say that Saturn is of limited value, however, so it appears likely that the brand will close its doors for good soon. I thought Saturn was a bright spot in G.M's lineup,too bad it had to end this way.$1 billion is reserved to buy out exsiting dealers,and in canada that includes Saab,so they must not be far from being sold or cut.

It really is too bad but in the end, the sales / profit numbers just can't be there. If the division was making GM money, it would stay.

saturn had the least drop in sales with only something liek 2%....

i like saturns no bullshit no bargaining crap.. you go in, thats teh price....

if the rest of GM would stop giving people cars for 12-13k off the sticker price when they come in to buy a vehicle then GM wouldnt be in the toilet so bad...

Too bad though, I thought the Saturn Lineup was heading down a great path as of late. But I can understand peoples hate for the cars considering the early to mid 90's Saturns.

I think Saab will find a buyer,the name is way to old and well known worldwide,Saturn on the other hand was a young company only selling cars in north america.I dont think Saab will dissapear.

what people are forgetting is that Saturn sells like CRAP in the states...

they only sold like 2-3000 Astra's last year... thats NOTHING.

yeah, the cars are good, but as a business, its just a money pit.

cuz saturns now are honestly a good bang for your buck and they'd probably be the only gm's i'd buy
