Gizmodo's been printing some pretty questionable shit lately. It's really not a reputable news source anymore. I'm not sure it ever was :P
original source is telegraph.co.uk
i think it's just a misleading title
the meteorite approached earth at 30,000 mph, but there's no way it hit the kid at that speed, otherwise he'd be dead
The crater an object moving at 30,000 MPH would create would destroy his entire city.

cant be true. a pea sized anything has enough kenetic energy at 30k mph to go through a engine block at any angle, nevermind a kids hand.

Girlfriends cost money
Turbos cost money
Both make whining noises
Make the smart choice.

Always a fucking awful experience seeing spikers. Extra awful when he laps me.
if you read the article, it says "approached the earth at 30,000 mph"
obviously it didnt hit the kid at that speed... air resistance probably would've slowed that mofo down
Well, the thread title and the article are pretty far apart then.Originally posted by OH-EIGHT

500 mph or 30,000 mph, if it hit his hand it wouldnt have killed him

worst part is definitely when the dudes smacking it with his dick like that inside out anus owes his dick some money.
If you drop a rock out of an airplane, it will accelerate as it falls, but once it hits a certain speed it will stop accelerating. Its the speed where the wind resistance equals the force of gravity.
I think that speed is about 120mph. But even if I'm wrong. it certainly isn't 30,000mph
That speed is terminal velocity for a human at sea level, it's higher for a rock.Originally posted by BumbleBeeCivic

How much a meteorite slows when it hits the earth depends on size and speed, if it has enough momentum it won't be slowed at all.
In this case though, you're right, nowhere near 30 000 mph. I saw this article on digg as well and didn't bother reading it because of the headline.
