    Default rust protection

I want to rust protect my car before winter arrives by rust proofing it....I have got the info from CARFAX and I see that "Corrosion 48 months or unlimited mileage 19 months or unlimited mileage"...does that mean that I am already covered for rust protection from Acura after becoming the second owner...because I see that it is transferrable at no cost...

the other thing is "Acura Total Luxury Care Provides Roadside Assistance and Concierge Service"....could someone please tell me what that means....

anywayz...how much does rust proof for winter cost at the dealer (Acura)?

any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated...

    thanks!

I would think you are okay. The rust warranty holds onto the car and not the owner. Selling a car doesn't cause it to rust.

Seems like a pretty week rust warrenty tho. 4 years?

Hop into a dealership and get some info in writing just to make sure. its worth it

The way you've described it being 48 months and your car being a 95. Would put your rust warranty expiry in 1999, 4 years ago wouldn't it?

All rust warranties are weak IMO. Most of the ones I have seen won't do anything until there is perforation, aka a hole through the body caused by rust.

VW provides a 12 year on all their vehicles and it overs all rust. Same with Audi and all VW owned subsiduaries.

    From VW's canada's site (http://www.vw.com/warranty/can_cars.htm)

    "Anti-Corrosion
12-year, unlimited distance Limited Warranty Against Corrosion Perforation"

There's that perforation word again. I don't think they will repair the rust until it causes a hole.

Go buy some black asphalt undercoating at canadian tire, clean your wheel wells really well and spray away
