Default Passport issues and flight booking

It's very late notice, but I need to leave for LA on Sunday morning. But I'm a retard and forgot to renew my passport as it expired a few months ago.

I have all the documents required for "quick renewal" and 24-hr processing for a passport. EXCEPT for proof of travel which may be required for 'emergency processing'.

The thing is, I don't want to book a flight unless I have a valid passport or unless I am guaranteed a passport by Friday.

Is there anyway for Passport Canada to process my passport without it? Or is it absolutely required?

If not, then, am I guaranteed a passport if I do in fact book my flight now?

I tried calling Passport Canada, but its all automated, so I can't get the answers I need.

Case by case basis so if you don't have a travel doc, they probably won't get it done for friday.

Question though, they said there is a slight chance I may not get it. Kinda concerns me from booking a flight. How typical is the delay?

I just flew into the US with an expired passort 3 weeks ago.

The hardest part was convincing the airline to actually issue me a ticket.

At the ticket machine i scanned my passport - It picked up my passport was expired and I had to talk an agent into getting my boarding pass.

When i went through US customs the border guard didnt even notice my passport was expired, and when he scanned it, there were no alarms or warnings. I just boarded the plane and it was all good.

Canadian customs didnt say anything to me coming back either.

    Easy Breezy.
