    Default Guitar Tabs for me?

I've been slowly learning to play the guitar for a few months in my spare time. I'm looking for songs that are easy to play but not boring.

Any song suggestions are welcome, but I prefer bands like fuel and pearl jam. My level is not very high, but I can confidently play songs like "Shimmer" and "Bad day" by fuel.

    Thanks!

learn stairway to heaven, pretty easy and is a must learn.
nothing else matters-metallica another great sounding must learn song that is pretty easy. Do you like old rock? There is a lot of fun old rock songs like Sweet Home Alabama-lynyrd skynrd (sp), learn some Beetles tunes etc. Not sure what music you like but I always liked to learn songs that are classics and everyone knows.

Cool, I'll try stariway to heaven. I've been resisting that one because EVERYONE learns it, but it does sound like it might be good practice.

I'm tired of playing the 4 power chord songs. They get boring quickly. It's tough to find songs that are interesting, not overwhelming, and that I like.

    Thanks, and keep em coming.

This is the guitar I have: it's a Yamaha RGX121S. It came with a package that included everything I needed to get started.

I'm learning how to play this little thing too!

I started house of the rising sun once, but got sidetracked by a different song. Yeah, you guys are right about 50's and 60's stuff. I learned "pretty woman" last week and that's a nice easy little song.

How many other people here play guitar?

Do you know how to play a little bit or just learning? One of the first songs I learned was Mettallica's One. It's really easy and sounds really cool, good luck.

    i use guitartabs.cc a lot.

    I play a
    Fender strat
    1968 ovation ballader (acoustic)
    2002 ovation celebrety (acoustic)
    Waschburn 12 string (acoustic)
    Behringer V-AMP

I used to have way more, but bills came before equipment!

P.S. Do all guitar stores a favor and NEVER play Stairway To Heaven!! For people work and frequent guitar store it becomes the "Stairway to HELL" I would say for some good practice learn things like "Mary had a little lamb" and work your way up to playing things like Bach and Beethoven. If you are serious about guitar these are very good things to learn. (just some food for thought)

    Default Beginner Songs

If you are looking for easy but fun beginner songs, the whole Greenday cd "Dookie" revolves around like 6 chords. Its a good way to learn/practice bar chords. Go to www.ultimateguitar.com to get the tabs, download the songs and learn the whole cd. I also suggest my first song "Teen Spirit" by Nirvana (4 chords), and once you have confidence in switching patters, learn "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Never give up though, that's the key.
