Default Thinking of Buying an 08 RS4

Thinking of buying an RS4, anybody on here own one?

    How did you like it?
    How bad is the reliability?

Why if you sold it, did you sell it?

    Thanks

    Nice car that's for sure.

Zephyr's buddy has one so maybe he'll see your thread and respond.

I almost bought an RS4 a couple years ago, but the Audi interior is so bland imo. The new interior is a huge improvement.

I heard the nav and some of the electronics inside are a real pain in the but to use and work with. But they sure sound awesome and go quick

My friend has one for a while now, he seems to love it other than the maintenance part. It is an Audi so it can get a little pricey in the long term. Fun car to drive that's for sure.

These cars have huge carbon buildup issues, and leaky DRC suspension (not sure if they fixed this yet) but might want to look into this as well

Clearly you've never even seen the interior of an RS4.
It is amazing, and nothing like anything else in the Audi line-up.

I have a 08 RS4 which I bought new. Known issues with the car as mentioned are the DRC suspension leaks and carbon buildup. Dealers are replacing all DRC under a recall. Dealer will also perform a carbon clean if the car is throwing CELs.

I've had no CEL issues yet. I've previously had one DRC shock absorber replaced under warranty. Have yet to take it in for the recall.

As far as the electronics I dont think they are a pain to use at all. I would agree typing in an address to the nav using a jog wheel is a little painful but still manageable.

Also regarding the interior you can go back and read reviews when the car came out that most people agreed that Audi interiors where above the competition.

Clearly you're right... I didn't do extensive research on the cars and clearly didn't drive one on multiple occasions, clearly.

The interior of an RS4 isn't terrible, I just didn't like that in buying a higher end Audi, the interior was so similar to a base A4.

Again... it's just my opinion, some people may love the interior of that Gen, I didn't. I think the new interior is a big improvement.

Why not just buy the new S4? I swear it's one of the best cars I've ever driven.

The new s4 is fantastic, no doubt.... But dude the RS4 is heaven. beautiful, sleek, and clean man.... I'm sure you'll be happy with either one.

I thought about the S4, but there is something just about the RS4 maybe the exclusivity.

    Thanks for all the comments.

The RS4 is all about exclusivity. The latest recall notice to audi of america about cold engine CEL's stated : "to the 1203 RS4's in the USA...." so id imagine the Canadian numbers would be much less. This being said the new B8 s4 is an amazing ride for the value. Right on par with the older RS4 for performance numbers and as stated a much updated interior. No one can argue against the job audi did on the exterior of the new generation either. The RS4 is however hefty to maintain as the dealer quoted me over 5000 for a brake job and Ive read the clutch replacement will cost in that ballpark too. About the DRC, i just had mine recalled by the dealer and they replaced all 4 corners. Carbon cleaning is just a thing that all FSI engines need. The RS4 more so then others!

Overall at the price these cars are going for now if you can find one have never been a better buy considering there were north of 100K brand new!

Haha, that would be like buying an X5 5.0 instead of the X5M.

Thanks For all the Input. I ended up buying a GTR. Drove my buddy's GTR and test drove an Rs4 off kijiji and I fell in love with the GTR. I know it wasn't a fair comparison since the GTR was 20,000 more, but I loved how the GTR felt and couldn't resist
