I'm a fair-weather commuter only, though my commute isn't particularly exciting (into Foothills industrial area). When I do bike I tend to ride add a few (or 60) km on the way home to have a more scenic route.

As for comfort- lots of people have suggested chamois. If you feel that's a bit too flamin' you can pick up padded mountain bike shorts, or I usually just wear shorts overtop of my kit so I don't have everyone staring at my early morning temperature shrunk package when I walk in

Yesterday on a whim I extended my ride home to 50KM. Rode down the river to the northern tip of Fish Creek and then turned around and rode home.

Trying to get some longer rides in to train for the ride to conquer cancer.

I'm actually surprised I'm not all that sore today.

Did a 72km ride home from work yesterday.

My training has started to become - plan the next ride - wait for a decent day to execute it.

From downtown down elbow river pathways - past glenmore reservoir - down west side of city to west end of fish creek - through fish creek to bow river - north along bow river pathways - north along nose creek pathway - home via NE streets and paths to Temple.

Pretty good ride... tour de Calgary.

Just a roundabout way of getting home.
