A man in his late teens received serious, but non life-threatening injuries after his Jeep Cherokee was involved in a collision with a CP Rail train around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the southeast.

The collision occurred in the 9600 block of Shepherd Road S.E. The Jeep sustained significant damage.

The crossing was closed for most of the night as CP Rail examined the train and tracks for potential damage.

None of the train crew was injured, according to police.

The cause of the collision at this time is unknown and District 8 officers continue to investigate the incident. Traffic was diverted at Shepherd Road and Glenmore Trail, along with Barlow Trail at Shepherd Road.
