    Default Motorcycle VS BMW

    http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/loc...ub=CalgaryHome

The Calgary Police Service is looking into whether alcohol and speed were factors in a serious crash that sent three people to hospital.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of the Trans Canada highway, just past the exit ramp to Stoney Trail.

Police report that the driver of a BMW was in the far left lane and witnesses say they were going way too fast.

Two people on a motorcycle then changed lanes and the driver of the BMW may not have had time to react, ending up ramming the motorcycle.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle as well as the passenger of the BMW were all taken to hospital and are in stable condition.

The driver of the BMW is in police custody, pending the outcome of a breath sample taken after the crash.
Speed is a factor yet again. Another driver who thought they were god's gift to motoring. I'd say crush the BMW, but it looked like it was done already. Perhaps justice would be to replicate every injury he caused on his own body? Feel for the couple on the bike. They're pretty damn lucky to be alive.

ok... not saying that this isn't due to the BMWs speed.

But if a vehicle was in the right lane and decided to move into the left, would it not have been a good idea to see if there was any traffic coming up?

Of course, I'm basing this on the information I've read and assessed. Who knows what the true conditions were...

Thats what it looks like happened, bikes moved into the left lane into the path of the BMW.

Also, lol at "witnesses say they were going way too fast".

That was my thought as well as people do it far too often. My favorite was being in the far left lane on stoney doing about 120 and a yaris that was stopped in the shoulder on the left, decided to merge back onto stoney from a stand still about 50m in front of me

I love how the media reports this as BMW vs motorcycle like it's somehow important what kind of car it was.

And I'm truly impressed that witnesses were able to estimate the speed of the BMW at 175 km/h. These people should work for CPS as human lasers

Sounds like both made mistakes here. But if you're speeding that much on a busy road that's obviously not safe. I'm surprised those people on the motorcycle are still alive. Very lucky.

    Ahahahahahahahahaah awesome!

This is why I take a GOOD look in the mirrors and a solid shoulder check before I change lanes on the bike.

Yeah you have to be careful when changing lanes, but that also is a great example of how speed can really blow up in your face even if you can 'handle it'

I've been surprised a few times before. If the closing rate of the approaching vehicle is ridiculous, it can be hairy. Especially BMW's who are trying to race you without your knowledge.
