yeah luongo's contract is bad, but there are teams that are willing to take his contract for an elite-tier goalie.
I'm gonna go with none of the above and say DiPietro! And yeah, his contract sucks but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's unmovable if there's a team in need of a goalie.Originally posted by PartyintheKorea

I totally agree, Dipietro is the worst contract in NHL history
Vancouver is in a terrific place for next season no matter the outcome, they need to move one of the goalies and this summer is looking to be a bit of a sale on them overall including Kipper (I hope he stays put). I can see Van trading Schneider much like Montreal did with Jaroslav Halak in 09-10, Price kinda shit the bed post season and Halak was golden in the play-offs. We all know how this ended. Lou is staying put. All he did was lead Van to two consecutive President's Trophies and the play-offs, one cup final so far. Fairly solid IMO.Originally posted by Kloubek
I don't think I ever said we were "better off" with Luongo.
In fact, I've thought for some time that I'd love for Schneider to stay and for Luongo to get traded. But the planets would have to align perfectly for that to happen.
I still believe Vancouver will make it through LA.

I hope you're right. It is hard to have confidence right now... but at least they are starting to come on now.Originally posted by CanmoreOrLess

I don't think Luongo's contract is really THAT bad. Yes, it's long, but at a cap hit of 5.3 (?) million per, that's actually fairly reasonable for a goalie with his credentials. The bigger problem I think is the fact that he would have to waive his NTC.
I agree, what's crazy is his actual salary O___OOriginally posted by Kloubek

imo canucks should be more concerned about ballard's contract.
and wow blues and yotes are looking sharp.
If he does get traded they will have to take a crappy contract back so I'm not sure how beneficial it would be.
Luongo's cap hit isn't bad..... it's the fact that he's signed until the age of 57 that's going to make it extremely difficult to move him.
You either move him for an equally long/stupid/expensive contract, maybe Lecavalier if Tampa goes does that road. Or you give up lots in a deal to convince someone to take him.
Either way they're in a bad spot....
If Vancouver loses this series, Alain Vigneault will be fired and the next day be hired by the Canadians. I cannot imagine a better coach for the Habs:

There is a new CBA under discussion now, the current one expires in 2012-2013. From what I am hearing and reading, the ability to buy out a player contract, will be something on a more positive term for being omitted from the salary cap. Thus, Lou could be done for in Vancouver (they take the hit off the books) and shipped to his team of choice. Toronto bound? What team would not like the option of getting a big hit off the books? Would players object as they are getting paid fully? Sounds like win-win.
The CBA:

There's lots of team that don't require a freebie buy out and therefore won't be supporting something like that happening. I hope it doesn't' happen. You signed a shitty long term contract, deal with it.
If it came down to trading him, I could see Luongo waiving his NTC to go to Tampa since his family lives in Florida anyways and they could use a goalie. I just couldn't see Lecavalier going to Vancouver though.Originally posted by 88CRX

Yeah, the Habs would definitely jump on Vigneault if he was available. Then MacT can coach the CanucksOriginally posted by CanmoreOrLess

Totally! Otherwise you're giving GMs an expensive get out of jail free card if they can dump bad contracts so easily.Originally posted by 88CRX

The current CBA sort of has this expensive get out of jail free card... bury them in the minors ala Wade Redden!Originally posted by D'z Nutz

Vancouver has a great lineup, they did all that in spite of having him in net, not thanks to him, same way Canada won gold with him playing like shit in the olympics. He didn't help that team for shit.Originally posted by CanmoreOrLess
