I had a jr suite at the Bryant Park Hotel which was not too shabby, 5 min walk to times square. I'm going again in September and I'm looking at renting a vacation condo this time around in the Times Sq area via http://www.housetrip.com anyone have any experience with this website?

pretty much if you plan on staying in lower manhattan, get ready to pay minimum 150$ a day.
Anyway, we were fairly impressed with Gotham Hotel, 2-3 blocks from Time Square, Rockefeller and Grand Central.
So hopping in and out the subway was really easy and convenient.
They have free wifi too and interior is fairly nicely decorated.

we are planning to stay there again next year.

Stayed at a holiday inn 2 or 3 blocks away from Madison Square Garden.

It was a pretty good location. We walked every where from there. Nothing better then spending a day in Manhatten walking from MSG to Central Park or to the Financial District and checking out the Statue of Liberty and such...

Vacation condo would be cheaper if you have a big group.

If it's just of 2 of you, it may be similar to a hotel room.

Midtown (Theatre District/Time Square) is always $200+ per night minimum. But it's also the area that's well connected by multiple subway lines.

I stayed near WTC last time due to some last minute sales on Expedia. Ended up paying around $300 a night but not bad for last minute booking.
