Default How/where to install extended studs?

This is for my friend's integra. He has the lugs and bolts, just needs them installed. We tried doing it ourself but could not get the hub off. There is an indent on the hub bolt and we cannot get that piece of metal to unfold (see picture).

Any ideas on how to do this? Or can someone recommend a place to get them installed?

that flap of metal unfolds itself when you take the nut off, its not worth fighting with it to bend it out.

^^ Ditto on what EM1FTW said. I've broken several flatheads and prybars trying to get that flap to unfold.

To take it off, you'll need either an impact gun that goes in reverse, OR a long breaker bar & someone to step on the brakes (brakes must still be installed obviously) while you crank at it. The flap will then unfold itself nicely...

Ya you need a big breaker bar and prob some pb blaster.

Setting up like this can help not strip the nut. Its on there pretty tight.

Put the car back down on the ground with the wheel on (center cap must be taken off) and pop it off with a breaker bar. It is much easier that way.

What good will removing that nut do? The hub is pressed in, removing it will do piss all.

Hammer each stud out and install the new ones with washers and tons of lubricant.

Haha wow, that's what we did wrong. The car was in gear and the brakes were pressed, but the wheel still spun a bit when we used the breaker bar .
At that point we stopped because we didnt want to damage anything. We will try again with the with the wheel still on or with the brakes installed.

    Thanks everyone!

Well... removing the nut will remove the hub, then the we will be able to insert the new studs into the removed hub.
I dont think you can even remove the existing studs with the hub on. Even so, there is no way to insert the extended studs at such angle without removing the hub.

No, ae92 is right, you have to press the hub out of the bearing, 99 percent of the time the bearing is ruined in this process. So be prepared to replace both front wheel bearings.
The rears are easy, take the big nut off and pull off the hub assembly.

Grab a screw driver, and put it in the rotor vents. Turn rotor until screwdriver hits brake caliper bracket. Now the hub and the rotor will not turn, then take off axle nut with a breaker bar. easiest way to do it with out a impact.

With stock studs, you can slip them in with out taking off the hub. But with extended studs the hub will have to come off.
    To get hub off;
1)Remove knuckle off car. undo both ball joints, tie rod end, axle nut.
    2) Pound out hub flange out of bearing with a socket and a hammer. The outer bearing race will be stuck on hub.
    3) Remove old studs, press in new studs.
    4) put knuckle back on car, place hub back in bearing/axle. use the axle nut to press the hub/race back into bearing.
    5) torque axle nut.

Or if you have a slide hammer you can remove the hub with the knuckle still on the car.

Caution, you may wipe out wheel bearings. It would be best to change them with the studs.
