Default Cell plan, Rogers retention or otherwise...

My Rogers plan has expired and I'm now month to month, but of course, some of the credits are expired too.

Are there any good plans out there now? Currently with Rogers, but willing to look elsewhere. Mainly in Calgary but we do travel to the Kelowna area and around Edson...

I would go with fido or koodo if I was looking for a new plan.

All of these smaller companies have shitty reception.

Depending on your usage, Sears Connect has double your mins and data and runs off the Rogers network.
$40 gets you 400 mins, 1GB data, evenings at 6pm, and all the other standard stuff

Fido $60 unlimited everything (Including Canadian long distance, picture/video messages, etc.) + 2 GB data. And none of the reception issues with the value carriers.

Unless you get some amazing retention plan, this one is hard to beat.

I'm on this too, went way way over my minutes and found out minutes above the 200 are $.45 each!!! Needless to say I could have bought a new phone for what my bill is.

    I am with Bell

    200 minutes anytime
Unlimited talk after 6 pm and weekends
    unlimited text/picture
    Voicemail and Caller ID

$0.05 Data CAN/US (i have no idea what this means...per kb? ill have to call Bell)
    .50 Canada to US LD
    100 minutes Canadian Long Distance
    6 gb of data

$63 bucks a month all in.

I am not complaining, but ive been with them over 5 years now. I tried Telus, Rogers, Fido i found them to be horrible in customer service and in rate plans. Which is why i switched to Bell.

    no complaints with Bell

I got ripped off $100 from Bell recently and retentions isn't even doing anything about it... Any more opinions on Wind?

OK, I spoke to Rogers retentions today, wanted to know what you thought...

This is for both the wifes and my phone...
    - 2GB shared between 2 phones
    - unlimited CAN wide calling (incoming and outgoing)
    - unlimited CAN wide pic/video/text (incoming and outgoing)
    - Voicemail/caller ID
    - receive international calls free (make outgoing at unknown rate)
    - $60 credit from last months bill due to more credits not being applied

    - this is offered as an existing plan, no credits applied and removed, everything documented at Rogers, emailed and texted to me for confirmation.

    - MONTH TO MONTH if I choose to not get new phones, 2yr term if I do

$105/month all in with existing phones, month to month ($50 per + tx)
$147/month all in for new phones, 2yr term ($70 per + tax)

We are leaning towards the cheaper option as I don't need a new phone, wife seems to be happy with hers for now... $480 over 2 years can buy a phone off of kijiji whenever we do want it... Coverage seems to be a big thing as we are travellers to the Edson/Drayton Valley area quite a bit.

    Thoughts?

Is there anything else I'm missing?

I was thinking of asking to have my wifes iphone unlocked too.

It's okay but I the same package in November with new phones (iphone 5S for me and 5C for wife) and we got the 2GB shared and all the unlimited stuff and our March bill as I look as I type this is $122.80 and that includes an extra $1.20 for three US texts. I went through several people with retention to get it though.

    Any other opinions on Wind?

After a few $400-$500 phone bill my wife/son racked up streaming youtube, I am wanting to switch her phone. She only has 1gb with Rogers.

I myself have 6gb with Rogers and won't leave that.

    Bumping this up.

Has anyone been successful with getting Rogers to extend their credits on their plans lately? I have around 1 year left on my 3 year contract but one of the credits is expiring next month.

    Here are my plan details:

    *6GB Super Plan
    - 200 Weekday Minutes
    - Unlimited Evening & Weekend
    Minutes
    - Starting at 6pm
    - Unlimited Sent & Received
    Text, Picture & Video Messages
    - Unlimited Canada-wide MY10
    Calling
    Manage your MY10 at
    www.rogers.com/MY10 or on
    your phone's mobile browser
    under My Account
    - 6GB of Data
    - Rogers One Number
    - 2500 Call Forwarding Mins
    - Conference Calling
    - Call Waiting
*Mini Voice Msg / Call Display
    - Call Display (Number Only)
    - Mini Voicemail

Ends up being $56.11/month with tax included.

Are you on contract or month to month?

The Filipino in me doesn't want to pay any more than I'm paying now lol I'll give them a call and see what they say about extending the credit until my contract ends.

I switched my plan as I was on an old VM one:
    It is their $64 whatever
unlimited minutes, text, VM 1gb data
$64-10% as I have my own phone, $57.60 which I thought is OK but fido would be $60-10% and it would be nice to have more than 1 gb of data while everywhere I see 5gb is $90+
