How do you install gaskets on your wife? Asking for a friend.

The number of engineers who think it's appropriate to say "as I said before" in meetings... Repeatedly. Like, a nervous tick amount of times.

Well if you listened the first time, I wouldn't have to repeat myself like I'm teaching a child.
    As I said before...

If only that were true. Two of these fuck-holes will open kick-off meetings with it.

The number if engineers, and in particular, engineering managers, who have a noticeable verbal tic is pretty high.

i hate when engineers(or anyone) repeat themselves after you acknowledge your understanding of what they're saying... but i also realize people in online meetings can't seem to understand 50-99% of what people are trying to explain because they're either not paying attention or can't think fast enough to watch a screen and listen to someone talk at the same time

The best is when this kicks off a circular discussion where you get one person re-iterating their point, and another re-iterating their understanding of the point, to which the first person will again re-iterate the point... and so on.

Humans were not evolved to communicate over distance. Repetition during an online meeting is actually pretty helpful even if it is annoying.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. If someone can't get something the first (or worst case second) time it's stated, the meeting should've been recorded and the smooth brained folks can click replay as many times as they need to without sucking the souls out of a large group of people.

Who keeps inviting engineers to meetings? Let’s get to the root of this issue

100%, this is why i like to be the guy running the meeting, if you don't keep up you're left behind because I'm moving on... check the notes after lol

I know it might be kind of rude, but most people don't have all day to hold other peoples hands so they can understand their own job(this is 75% of my job though lol). If you can't listen and understand what's happening on a project maybe you should just be in the background doing grinder work and not wasting everyones time in a meeting.

haha, they get butt hurt when you circumvent them and go straight to construction........ they are paying the bills after all so it makes sense i guess.

Large groups in a meeting is a waste of time for at least half the invite list anyway. Learn to delegate the cut the invite list.

More than 8 is a mistake, and more than 5 should be by exception only.

Every once in a while (ok, frequently), I get a reminder of one thing or another that I don't miss about working in EPC. This is one of those times.

It entirely depends on the context of the meeting, the level of people involved, and their overall ability to foster productive discussion. I had a productive meeting with 15 other people this morning.

also agree with this. small meetings, less random input, get things done with the right people.

But that's hard and people don't want to feel left out and like they aren't a part of the convo which i also still understand...
