Just throwing it out there.
The stacks of money might've clouded your judgment for a minute.
If I did, my gf will take care of it for me.

Victoria if I had stacks. Rains less. You can actually see the clouds over Vancouver while it's perfectly sunny in Victoria.
Yeah for like 3 days all winter, the rest is just as overcastOriginally posted by suntan

Victoria gets less rain, but make no mistake: It's cloudy as balls for 6+ months, and they have a ton of mist/drizzle. Source: I lived there for 6 years.
Yes, but it does rain less. And that makes it slightly better.

Mortgage free is not a good plan for saving money...I have been there for a few months now and I have trouble saving just $2K a month when I should be at $4-5K a month. New furniture, $6K, trampoline, $2K, paint house, $2K...etc. And I was "strongly encouraged" to buy an extra week of vacation at work (basically a 2% pay cut) which I did and now my wife is planning a trip to Disney World and Mexico for next winter!
I need a new mortgage soon to "save" money again.
Looking for a new VW? How about a used vehicle? We are Central Albertas #1 source for pre-owned vehicles
I will beat any deal on a new VW for beyonders

A buddy and his wife are doing their residency in Victoria and they're always out doing some adventure. He kayaks a lot and they both hike, enjoying the beach life. Just seems really expensive to rent/buy there.

I like Victoria, but I don't think I would choose to live there if I was going for lifestyle.
There isn't really a lot of stuff going on, and if you spend more than about a week there it starts to get pretty boring. I've always found Vancouver fits better with an active/social lifestyle, Victoria is way more laid back and maybe better for retirement.
I've cut going out for lunch every day to going out once every two weeks (or when I can expense it). Tea at my desk in the morning instead of going out for coffee every day. No motorcycle for me this year (not even a mid 80's one for $1500 ). The Mrs's and I go to Montreal every year for Osheaga but unfortunately we are cutting that out and are instead going to try and enjoy day trips around Calgary more.
I'm also going to meet with my bank about my accounts and LOC interest rate, I'm sick of getting bent over the coals for it.
Think I can go to all the places I buy things from and demand a price reduction like producers are doing to service companies? Day to day life works that way right?
EDIT: I forgot the most important one!!! I'm brewing and distilling my own liquor so I can be broke and drunk!

So back in January I posted this. I made the trailer a reality in February, and I put an offer in on a bigger house this week.Originally posted by ExtraSlow
Buying a larger trailer for camping in case I get laid off and I am unemployed this summer.
Looking at buying a bigger house, but probably only if house prices actually do end up dropping.
I figure if we ever return to inflation, I'm laughing. Or petroleum prices go up.
Or if I get laid off . . .
Nothing like doubling down.

I'm buying stocks as much as I can afford to.
I'll also be shopping for an upgrade of home at the end of summer.
Yes you definitely can for discretionary purchases like new vehicles, toys, houses, etc. You will get some great deals as well.Originally posted by schurchill39

Service companies services are all discretionary. If an oil company can't make its 12%-20% ROR it won't invest. They are giving service companies the option to drop their pricing to keep busy and allow the producer to keep making its ROR. Service companies have grossly overcharged for work in Canada over the last few years so prices needed an adjustment. The sad thing is that as soon as the industry starts to turn you will see ridiculous pricing again instead of something sustainable. Producers become marginally more profitable while service companies profits grow exponentially. That's a boom and bust industry for you.
