Not high enough.

Since the oil revenues are gone, they need to have $1,500 minor traffic violations like in California. $500 fines for watering the lawn and $500 fines for not watering the lawn, both alternating.

$500 Fine for driving on the street with an odd numbered license plate on Mon, Wed, Fridays, and $500 fine for driving with even plates on the street on Tues, Thursdays and Saturdays.

I highly doubt THAT is being enforced in many communities. It's the out there portions like this that are raising eyebrows, I doubt anyone has a real issue with fining some pig for spitting on the sidewalk.

Apparently there are also people taking offense to prohibiting swearing in public. Wonder how many of those would change their tune if it was directed at them?

you're right it won't hold up, but it's just creates an unnecessary pain in the ass thing to deal with. why should you have to waste your time going to court for something like this?

I find it strange that Canada has become much more restrictive and intolerant in the last decades (I blame Rob)

I mean really, the entire Eurozone went to a common currency with open borders. The US just declared that there is no such thing as an illegal alien anymore. The rest of the world is showing an exceptional shift to tolerance.

And Canada? Fines for "people we find offensive" because they spit and swear... Taking a rule from China and Russia? Increased border security?

Maybe we are all trying to come to a happy medium for everyone on the planet. Globalization, where 1 euro = one US dollar = one Canadian dollar = might as well just make one 8 gram cupronickel new world order coin the standard.
