I'd like to upgrade the thermostat in my home to a networked unit and my top choice is the Ecobee. However, most new homes like mine now have an HRV + humidifier in addition to the furnace. It's probably because these new homes are sealed so tightly that it's beneficial to be able to exchange air regularly.
Right now, I have an Emerson 1F98-1421 thermostat with an Emerson 40C01-1400 Equipment Control module (ECM). The thermostat interfaces with the ECM through a proprietary connection. It is through the ECM that the furnace, humidifier, and HRV are hooked up.
The problem is, many aftermarket smart thermostats like Ecobee, Honeywell, Nest, are only designed for furnace control with maybe +1 accessory. Does anyone have any suggestions on wiring this up with one unit controlling everything, or do I need separate controls?
