You guys are nuts!
You guys are nuts!
rode this morning, and wasn't too bad.
occasional gust of wind but to me, it wasn't as cold as those days we had in September.
winter warning is only for this morning as I think later this afternoon and this week it will be back to normal again.
700x33c on fresh snow is a little slippery, still waiting for studded tires to be on stock again at CR

That sucked! Glasses kept fogging up so had to take them off, snow was really more like ice so I had my eyes pretty much shut on the down hills. Going to hit up mec at lunch and get some better eyewear for the ride home.
Wasn't too cold at least but after about 45 mins I got fairly chilled as the sleet was soaking through
man I p*ssied out and drove. I got 700 x 33c as well and am waiting for those marathons to come in as well
i wear glasses and wished that i was wearing my ski goggles today but snow/rain never really bothered me while riding. used my ski helmet too haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
new track pants (slight little water repellent) and puffer jacket kept me mostly dry, but started getting hot and sweaty 20 minutes after
im home sick, but that wind is nasty... good on you guys
Yeah, I ended up not riding in today. I looked out the window and saw the snow coming in sideways so I figured I better take the ctrain to work. When I left, it wasn't that bad and the paths were clear so I considered turning back and getting my bike for a bit, but ended up just going ahead with transit. I think it was better that I did cause after about 10 minutes, it got significantly worse and by the time I arrived at the office, it was a lot worse and I'm pretty sure my bike would have been slipping around with all the slush.
Was a run day for me today, so was planning to leave the bike at home anyways. Drove part way and ran 14km in. The wind wasn't fun today...
Holy crap, 14km is a serious morning run! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Not bad, the road was clear of ice and was riding on 700X28 slicks this morning with no issues, just had to be careful.
Going home will be a different story though, slushy in downtown core.
I regularly run the 21km from my house, and often extend it to 30km in the morning. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I ran the perimeter of Nose Hill (15km) the night before. So took it easy. I find it easier than bike commuting - gear on, grab the shoes and go...

how was your ride home? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
wind getting out of downtown was brutal,
was going 30 until when i turned to the george king bridge from the riverwalk, i see that it was all ice and almost slipped.
afterwards i was averaging only 20, even downhill the george hill drive by the zoo, max speed was only 24 lol
Today was a day you definitely didn't want to be clipped in.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Shoulda been KOMs for days if headed south!
No kidding I almost biffed it about 10 times on the pathways on my ride home. Roads were great pathways were really badThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
First yr riding and already have wiped twice due to speed and lack of common sense. Solid road rash and ripping of decent bike gear as as lesson learnt.
What tips do u guys have for going downhill in winter? I have 2 of those windy hills btw coach hill and Sarcee and behind shag golf course. Read ur not suppose to ride brakes which makes sense and only use back brake as front brake locking is a death sentence but with those sharp declines and such a short distance your bike will pick up speed. Then on top of it and have to do a couple of 180 degree turns. Fk I know I’m gonna wipe a bunch of times with trial and error. Haha
Wiped on 2nd residential road packed down with ice. Haha. Pathways super dodgey too.
I had trouble walking my dog on the pathways in my neighborhood yesterday. I couldn't imagine how I could even make it out of neighborhood without any wipeouts. The only option is to go on the road. Although certain intersection was also quite dodgy this morning with my "4 season" car tires.
In a couple weeks I'm switching to my studded tires. Honestly I wouldn't ride in the winter without them especially with how some of the river pathways ice up. Even the continental top contact IIs are shite for traction on ice compared to cheap schwalbe studs. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
