Wow memo to self freezing rain = drive to work. Man that was the dicest ride I’ve ever been on. My balding knobby tires stood no chance on any downshill slope with black ice. Should’ve turned around when my back wheel fishtailed just going from my driveway to road.
yeah rode this morning too and could feel the car slipping with winter tires on.
when I got to the park to unload the bike from the car, I could feel how icy the ground was.
rode slower than usual, especially on turns. almost slipped going through the bike trail by the zoo.
I passed on riding to work today just cause of how slippery it was going to be, but even if I had, I couldn't imagine *not* riding without studded tires on a day like today. Did you guys take them off already?
I took them off several weeks ago. Wasn’t too bad until today. Guess I have a suicide death wish. Hoping it’s better going home. Need it to warm up a few degrees
Didn't take em off yet since they're all carbide tip, but not looking forward to changing over 4 sets of tires from studded. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Didn't ride this winter so last week I still had my slicks from last year, switched to the stock knobbies because I got a gash in one tire, switched to studded on Monday morning because of all the snow over the weekend, then new slicks on Tuesday morning, back to studs today.
Sick of changing tires, when's spring?

...why did i cancel my zwift...

hopefully tomorrow will be better.
according to weather forecast, next week will have some light snow and flurries again, could get icy again?
Ya I’m not putting my studs back on. Will just drive the days like this when biking becomes dangerous.
I slipped and fell on my driveway. Put the bike away and drove. lol
lol, I thought the fat bike at the storage was yours this morning.
with light snow still coming down, not looking forward riding back this afternoon.
will probably take the ctrain tomorrow, don't want to risk it anymore.
I drove my truck in. You want a lift with the bike? lol. Be safe. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I'm good, thanks man.
parking by Telus Spark right now and doing an easy ride for now, hoping that by May/June I'll be riding from Country Hills.
Yeah I dunno why you'd take your studded tires off so soon. Mine aren't coming off until I'm sure it's not going to snow anymore and what snow on the ground is all melted. Hopefully tomorrow isn't as slippery.
Dedicated winter fleet. My studded tires never come off. lol. 14 bikes and counting.....This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ya I need another bike or two. Sucks having only one bike for changing weather conditions or if I bike needs parts/maintenance
Just make sure you don't get your spouse into biking. Got my wife into road biking / triathlon, and it just takes away from my bike budget. lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I rode all week - yesterday on the way into work with all the slippery stuff I passed someone walking a road bike along the north side of Bow River coming from Edworthy Park. Not sure he knew that the path was covered all the way into downtown.....he had slicks on. Felt fine with studded tire on the front, non-studded rear has slipped a little the last two days. Looking forward to a splashy ride home in the sun this afternoon.
