Generally you can't be forced to speak. Go ahead and keep your mouth shut if you want. But if you straight up lie, it could cause a lot more problems.

I guess with 1-2 drinks either way you won't blow over so it doesn't hurt to tell the truth.
Yeah it does. The police assume your a lying drunk at that point and treat you accordingly. You can have a drink and still drive but that's not how you'll be treated.

Everything you say will be used against you. Say nothing and if you get arrested call your lawyer.
Cops always ask ? to incriminate you. Be like the Army.

M ex-girlfriend's father was the son of a senator and CEO of a major financial company. He always told us to "ALWAYS LIE to the police." I'm not advocating that position, but he is a very wise man.

You would likely get a $1000 fine and 6 months of proby for an obstruction charge. IF they can make it stick which is unlikely. Its hard to prove intent to obstruct when its not clear that there is an investigation.

    JRS, don't be this guy.

A simple DUI check, guy is keeping the roads safe. He saw something to make him decide that pulling you over to check things out was warranted. No need to cop an attitude. Pun sorta intended. that one question probably quadrupled your time stopped.
    Agreed, reaks of attitude
