Actually, I didn't have it during hs. No way my parents would help me out with something like a car, so I didn't buy it will I was... 21? Something like that.Originally posted by Darkane
I knew a guy in HS they had that maverick. Did you graduate in 2000?
EDIT: never mind. You're older than me, graduated with my brother(s).
Funny.... I didn't realize right away the speedo was in miles. Wondered why 100 on the highway felt so unstable...
Cool car, but that color does remind me a bit of newborn baby poo... takes a while for their digestive systems to develop as it were...

I had a red 85' Coupe GT back in the mid 90's, great car. Few exist now and those that do are generally heaps. They are certainly not ugly IMO.Originally posted by Kjonus
You might think it's ugly but I've been trying to find one of these for a few years now...lol
Had this same comment. Is it actually in baby-poo yellow? If so, I'd say it's a little ugly, even though I think those corvettes are pretty cool.Originally posted by whatthe

The official name is War Bonnet Yellow, and it's more of a mustard/gold. Period correct (and the original colour) for the car and its year.Originally posted by cjblair

I have to admit the first time I saw it in a picture I was turned off. That being said it has grown on me a lot, and it stands out in person, my wife still hates it though lol.

My first car was a hand-me-down 1974 Ford Pinto Wagon ...
It was NOT clean like the attached picture... The paint and especially the fake wood-paneling whatever-you-call it was all oxidized, and it looked like crap. So very, very ugly. And it went through oil like crazy.
That would be such a cool car to own now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well this would be in my top 5, but I had an '88 Honda Accord EX-I sedan with 245,000 km that I purchased years ago for $100. Interior was great but the rust was pretty terminal and poorly repaired by the prior owner. A former co-worker's nephew just bought a new truck that day and just wanted it gone - hence the price. Mechanically, it was flawless. I bought for the sole purpose of teaching my girlfriend (now wife) how to drive stick with it. She affectionately named it "Spot" and it stuck.
We owned it for over 8 years and it was our spare car whenever one of ours was ever in the shop. We used it to haul things to the dump or to transport anything we didn't want to dirty our regular transportation with. We drove to BC, the US and the Northwest Territories without any problems. I changed the oil twice annually and gave it a tune up every 2 years.. other than that... No other maintenance. The alternator went once and I replaced the brakes three times in all the years I owned it. I abused this car and it took all the punishment and went about its business. The windshield and sunroof leaked whenever it rained, and the trunk and frame rusted from the inside out as water would get trapped and you could hear water swishing around in random spots throughout the car a couple days after each downpour. It was a shitbox beater of the first order.
The RCMP pulled me over and promptly told me it wasn't roadworthy - recertify it with a safety within 90 days or take it off the road for good. By that point it had over 450,000 km, third was slipping, the oil light flickered randomly and the suspension was shot. I sold it for parts for $475. Spot was without question one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned.
Can't forget the roof shot and the engine hah. Best. Hundred. Bucks. Ever!
