Default My confusing Shaw bill arrives every month, how much do I pay today?

Here is my Shaw bill that arrives each month in my email box, all Shaw customers will have the same layout. Confusing as all hell initially, customer service rep. at Shaw tells me 30% of her calls are about the confusing monthly bill.

Any ideas about Shaw's hidden agenda?

Something similar happened to me after I switched from Broadband 30 to their Broadband 150 service.

My billing date got pushed up and I got pro-rated on the new service since I got it a week before my billing period ended.

You get that same bill every week? Does it match up with the services you're paying for?

Same bill each arrives month, switched from Telus to Shaw two months ago. The Shaw rep. told me they had an internal meeting about making the bills more obvious as it was eating a third of their support calls and many were overpaying each month. Today I learned a friend moved from Shaw to Telus and she gets back over $300 all due to her overpaying somewhere during the last two years.

I pay them whatever they pull out of my pre-auth CC payments every month LOL

I would think it's the $52.40 due NOW, and then the $104.80 is prepaying for the month ahead which is not due now

Shaw does forward billing. Note that the current charge is for Nov 12 to Dec 11.

As of today (Oct 12), $52.40 is due.

If you don't pay until November 12, then you have $104.80 due.

It stacks up like that because you didn't pay the Oct 12 to Nov 11 charges before they generated the bill for Nov 12 to Dec 11 charges.

For all new accounts, the first bill will be for 2 months, if you only paid the 1 month amount on your first bill and have since only paid 1 month every bill, it'll always show that you have two months due.

It's just next-month billing, there isn't anything really unusual about it. If their system generates a bill before the previous one is paid, it looks like that. It tells you how much you owe depending on when you pay. Mine have looked like that too but there isn't anything wrong with them.

I have it set to auto-pay and I've never been charged the wrong amount. That's hilarious if people are switching providers because they can't read haha, but I guess if that's what's pissing people off that's still Shaw's problem.

To make it simple, sign up for auto payments.

They will charge you the Nov 12 to Dec 11 charges on Nov 12th for auto payment.

You will square up and just pay for the upcoming billing month on the first day of the period going forward.

You're paying for future usage, basically.

In your example, the DUE NOW is an outstanding balance and then the other $5x.xx is the usual payment.

    DUE NOW is $52
You can pay the other $52 on Nov 12.

    There are dates.

52.40 is owing immediately (looks like you didnt pay enough last month) and 52.40 is due by nov 12. or just make it easy and pay the grand total.

this is not confusing at all!

    Your previous payment is insufficient.

Thus you pay the 104 balance today.

Shaw bills you in advance. So example:

your bill is printed on september 10th, it's for the services from october 10th to november 10th, but it is due by october 10th.
