Is eating in your car part of the cultural experience?

Also in Oahu you can’t beat the Pipeline for big waves
Kailua beach for beaches
& Paradise Cove for a cultural experience.

You can rent some kayaks to go out to those islands. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Go to Lanikai up the road for some fantastic snorkeling right off the shore.
Just got back. Had a 10 day stay in Kauai, which was amazing. Loved every moment of it. Food, people and places were great. The very definition of small island life- very slow and laid back. The only drawback is that it's expensive and there is just one main highway that goes around the island, so if there is any road work, you'd be stuck in traffic for a bit with no back roads. But overall, an excellent experience.
Then we spent 4 days on Oahu, mostly in Honolulu. I agree with some sentiments in here in that Waikiki has become over crowded, and kinda gross. The amount of homeless that occupy the streets has significantly increased since the last time I've been there. However, I still felt safe. I don't know why some would find it unsafe. I've been in worse. Food is still bomb though. That's primarily why we went.
Overall, I've done almost everything on Oahu, and with Waikiki being the way it is, I probably won't be back. Kauai was great, but the island is so small, we've also done almost everything we wanted to do, except sail Napali Coast. Maui is next on the list.

Does Hawaii still require covid test before departure? Hawaii govt site says Canadians need a test but westjet says no test required if you're vaccinated.
No testsThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Has Maui prices inflated after pandemic? Seems like all hotels I am checking out is min $4K/week now for crappy places.

Recession? Where? Lol
Travel is more expensive than it used to be for most destinations.
There was a flight sale recently and there is bound to be a surge in demand once people start booking their accommodations. You could fly round trip for $1500 for a family of 4.
Well, Amsterdam is only $2600 on business class and $600 econ, direct/round trip. That ain't bad and pretty much on par or even better than pre-pandemic prices. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Getting monkey pox from red light district could be expensive tho.
Oahu accommodation is alot more expensive too. We are going in December and found that prices have at least doubled since we last went pre-covid. A big part of that is all the new taxes too. The place we booked is $750 taxes on a $1800 rental. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Was hoping to spend a couple days at the Disney resort with the kid but can't justify $1K/night for a garden view room. .. Sorry kiddo.

What I meant was, people don’t seem to care that prices have doubled, things are still booked solid. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
