Yeah as far as I can tell, you can only get Wyze cameras off Amazon in Canada. They don't ship to Canada off their site.

I talked to Wyze, they told me that they actually don't want Amazon selling them in Canada but they can't stop it. The reason is because they are not set up for Canadian warranty service, and cannot help out if anything goes wrong. What started my discussions with them was I had a wall plug fail on me (just switched it out for an old cell phone plug) and when I talked to them they were extremely apologetic but said they literally could not ship me a new $0.50 wall plug - not even in regular mail. I even asked if they could personally mail me one (like from the individual not the company) and I'd pay for the postage and they said no, it would be against the rules. Something to do about not being cleared for business in Canada. They said Amazon's sales of their cameras in Canada has caused them huge problems. They can still help with technical support obviously, but if you need warranty you're SOL. They are so cheap though it doesn't matter.

I bet it's USA only unless Amazon specifically is orchestrating it.

Such a bummer that we can't get the black edition.

If anyone figures a way to get them, I'd be in for 3 of them + 1 mounting kit.

I don't see anything special about the Black edition - and it's $19.99 USD which is what the normal Wyze Cam's were for the longest time.

It does surprisingly well in very low light without the IR LED's but it can't perform miracles. The IR reflection thing is a common issue with all of these security cameras.

I turned OFF the IR night vision for the window, or else it doesn't work (you just see white reflection of the IR) but the street lighting outside is new / LEDs and very well lit so it works great actually, no problems, can see quite good. Also have one on back window of house too where garage's are and they all have LED's above each house garage so it's very well lit at night time too! I posted a pic of a skunk getting in garbage at night a few weeks ago over in the Wyze thread! Here: https://forums.beyond.ca/threads/407...54#post4750654
I'll try that today! Unfortunately my area isn't anywhere near as well-lit as yours Kijho, but I think there's a lot more options and flexibility with outdoor lighting stuff. Thanks guys!

Stuff like this is on sale almost every single day if you need more exterior light:

The WyzeCams are back to $37 if anyone was holding out for the $5.

Yeah, that site has saved me literal thousands of dollars over the years haha. Snagged quite a few items at "lowest ever recorded" pricing too, which can very quickly change back to MSRP. The only thing it doesn't always see is Prime Day deals and some lightning deals.

yeah I use it quite a bit now too. Even with saving money, it helps me know roughly how bad I am getting screwed if I do want it today.

Yeah definitely - the historical price charts are handy because the "MSRP" you see on Amazon most of the time is higher than the product ever sold for, then they calculate the advertised discount off that to make you think you're getting a steal. Basically the old Soundsaround business model haha, and now most other stores do the same thing with their Black Friday / Boxing Day flyers & sales.

TELUS bought out Alarm Force a about 1 year or so ago, and are now offering it as part of their home services. Fairly cheap, and can get a bundle discount if you bundle with your other home services. its a 2 way alarm system, so it is better than you average setup. I was one of the testers in the pilot program and i gotta say, it is pretty slick. I still use it now.

If you are interested, let me know, and I can set up a referral for you.
How do you like the Telus service? I'm looking into a monitored service and came across it. Is it pretty easy to negotiate discounts like everything else telus? What does a referral from you give us?

Wyze guys - Are you using a microSD or just relying on the event-based recording?

I ordered these and they have been excellent:

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...GFW0OQJA&psc=1

Price fluctuates between $7.99 and $10 day to day and when the 2-pack is available it's $14.99.

32GB gives you approximately 4 days of loop footage - it will automatically record over the oldest footage when full, and still records all events in the cloud just like it does without a micro SD card.

The cards are a little tricky to push in the bottom of the camera and it's spring loaded, so just make sure it's in all the way. Format the card in the camera (option to do this in the app) before first use.

The bitrate is ~100KB/s so you don't need anything fancy at all in terms of memory card.

For the price, there really is no reason not to pop a mSD card in there to guarantee no gaps in footage. You can view it all from the app too, it's great. It even marks the events on the timeline.

Both, i only have it set for notifications sometimes, so it only records those on the event based.
