What's the best way to pick up pine needles? Should i just buy a shop vac and go to town under the tree? is there a special type of tool i can buy/rent for this?
Cut down the pine trees and take care of the problem at the source.
Worst kind of trees.

Yes conifers are awful to have on city lots. I have zero, but my neighbor has 8 massive spuice, and it's a constant rain of those acidic death spikes all year. I pay my kids 1c/ spruce cone and they earn enough to gorge on candy at 7-11 with it. No sweat to get 400-500 a few times a year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I have 6 massive ones at the new place. GL with my lawn looking like anything other than a needle filled mud pit.

Run your lawnmower around and bag em?
I've got a 50ft tall spruce in my front yard, debating on taking it out this year or next. I hate it though.
I agree Pine trees are the worst, but this is a massive fucker that is at least 40 years old and matches with the character of the cul de sac i'm in so it would be a shame to take it down and have a wide open front yard while everyone else has some nice massive trees. Maybe when i re-do my front yard landscaping in a few years i can re-visit taking it down and replacing it.
I've done that already at the lowest setting my mower will go and there is is still a pretty thick layer. It's killed the grass around it pretty bad but luckily its far-back enough that you can't notice from the street, but it's annoying when it rains and that area turns into a mud/needle pit. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Then heavy topdress/overseed. Might throw some lime down first (? Heard of it never done it) Cut the lower branches up 6'+ so you get some decent-ish light down there.
Can anyone share any tips on what to do with my lawn in terms of fertilizing and or overseeding? Nothing was done this year to it

Post some pics of your lawn. What’s wrong with it? Committing to seeding means you might want to delay fertilizing until you see seed germination so the existing lawn doesn’t out compete your seed. It also means delaying weed control applications. If you have Kentucky Bluegrass which spreads naturally through rhizomes, you may be able to fill your thin spots by just pushing growth with fertilizer, water and frequent mowing.
Just mowed a back yard lawn full of weeds and dandelions. Mower was having trouble. Front yard, grass and very little weeds. WHYYYYY

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
Starting to fill in.

You can force grass to grow beneath those but it takes a lot of work to consistently clean the needles up, plus sweetening the soil with lime and watering the living piss out of it.
Thanks. I did this last week and within a day I could see it was working. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It would be greener if I had soil from Aspen.
