I've switched between Shaw/Telus while in Calgary a number of times, I found like everyone else knows that Shaw's performance was greatly dependent on your area, and how much they had oversold/underupgraded their network/whatever, while Telus' performance always seemed "as advertised" no matter where in the city I lived. Telus it came down to $$ while Shaw it was always how, and "if" it worked decently enough for me to not go mental.

While stuck in the 7th circle of hades (Saskatchewan), there is only 2 options really as well, Shaw (now Rogers, FUCKFUCKINGFUCKFUCKFUCK), and Sasktel. Sasktel would be hilariously overpriced compared to Shaw/Rogers, however I have a close relative that's a VP with Sasktel, who is able to hooketh the $$. I've had both, Shawgers 1gbit connection has been amazingly stable and solid for years now, as were all the previously service speeds prior to 1gbit being available. Sasktel's fiber is fantastic, no usage limits/caps, very solid speed, and the $ I pay is basically the same as the Shawgers deal we have for another year.

Sasktel's Infinite fiber has 500mbps upload, while Shawgers 1gbit plan has some gay upload speed, I can't recall offhand what it is exactly, but it sucks.

If I could have just one I'd stick with Sasktel, especially after the PITA of them digging up my back yard and putting in a plastic tube from the alley in order to run the 2 fiber cables they needed to run. Plus the upload speed, not that I upload all that much any longer.

Shaw 1gbit plans have 100mbps upload. Perfectly acceptable unless you are an OF creator.

My OF is 240p keeping it authentic for the fans of original internet. Random frame drops coded in.

Telus were being birches when it was time to renew, really pissed me off. Didn't want to switch. Switched, then Telus offered me the deal I originally wanted 2 days after shaw installed everything. Ridiculous and infuriating system.

Shaw will do the same thing. You have to cancel to get any deals.

And in my area where Telus Fiber ain't a thing, they don't even bother to act like they are interested.

Next time I'll cancel and delay the install appointment long enough to get that call back.

Even threatening to cancel was useless. Had to do it for real. What a fuck around.

Shaw ever since I got off of dialup (1998 maybe) Have had it in 2 different houses, both have been great.
That said I fully expect Rogers to fuck it up.
I keep telling Telus to fuck off when they come to run fibre because they can't get it where my mechanical room is.
The side where my services enter the house is fully finished. Power/Phone/Cable all go through the finished area to the mechanical room at the other side.

I honestly don't understand how everyone puts up with Shaw and Telus. Paying $30+/mnth more for same exact service on same infrastructure. Then all the csr calls to attempt a better deal?!

If you're worried lightspeed can't keep up? I've had 2 down times all of a few hrs across all of covid. Otherwise, worked perfectly with two people wfh. Price has been the same since 2019

Lightspeed is only 25Mbps up. Shaw is 100Mbps up.

For some that maybe good... but for me it isn't. I need a good upload for stuff I work on and considering I have had zero issues with Shaw.. I am fine with what I pay.

I find it more silly at those who jump around all the time for a "few dollars"

I've been with Telus since 2013ish I think. In 2015 I got them to match a friend's deal an I have been paying the same every year since. I just call before each contract renewal and get re-upped. I think I am on their fiber 300 plan right now? It works great for our movie streaming and looking at videos of... cats

Yeah that's all I wanted when I called. Just keep prices the same, not a $35/mo increase.
