    Default Blown Tire on Deerfoot

There is a huge pothole going through the construction zone on Deerfoot South between Anderson and Douglasdale. I blew my front tire on the pothole last week and then 2 other people did as well shortly after me. I also saw on Instagram a row of like 6 cars all in the same predicament on the weekend so I know I'm not the only one.

Just wondering, since Deerfoot isn't technically controlled by the City, who do I complain to and how do I try and get reimbursed for the cost of a new tire? TIA

The province is responsible and they will not do a thing just by complaining. I imagine it would need to be lawsuit level before they are going to give a shit and then you are throwing a lot of good money after a little bad sadly.

I think this is the link that is relevant...

I doubt Carmack will do anything either.

Where abouts is the pothole exactly?

Saw something about this pothole, drove through the area and didn't see anything.

Far left lane going over Ivor Strong bridge. Last week there was construction there and it went down to two lanes and down to 80 km/h. Not sure if construction is still there but when I just called Carmacks they took my name and # and said this has already been reported. Not expecting much from this but thought I'd try.

It was reported a week ago, they still haven't bothered to fix it.

I’m going to age myself here

Years ago, in 1999, I blew two tires and bent a wheel because of a pothole on Deerfoot by 16th Ave (if my memory serves me correctly). I called the city, and within a couple of days, they sent an appraiser. They reimbursed me for the cost of the two tires and the repair for fixing my wheel. I’m not sure if anything has changed since then, but that was my experience.

I can't remember a worse year for potholes in this city. Roads all around the city are basically disintegrating and it's getting worse year over year. The city has ramped up the use of road salts over the past decade which isn't ideal with Calgary's winter temperature swings and overnight low temperatures. There are so many potholes that the city can't even keep up with filling them.

Yeah we have seen an influx in wheel bend/crack repairs and tire bulges this year for sure.

There are some surprises here. One of the most active members is hardly over 30.

Agreed. Drove deerfoot the first time in 2 weeks yesterday, basically driving like I was drunk dodging potholes every 5 seconds. That’s just from beddington to 16th.
