The last thing I'd want to do is use my $30,000 battery system that I've paid for as grid storage that can be pulled off when needed.
This shortage will only last until 10 or 11pm at most. Power consumption drops off heavily when people go to bed. No reason you couldn’t recharge after 2 or 3am and still be ‘full’ by the time you go to drive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

$1/kwh, and maybe you could sell ~30kwh, so that's a sweet $30, minus whatever it cost you to charge it earlier in the day.
Not nothing, but in what feels like an emergency situation, it might not be compelling.

Not really seeing it, you'd only have a few vehicles plugged in at any given time and I'd presume there's some sort of limiter where the car would refuse to provide power as well. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That would also just make it so that even fewer people would keep it plugged in during cold weather, for fear that they'd be the unlucky ones.

My AC stresses the grid system in the summer. My furnace and lights in winter. But the government wants net zero by 2035 and us in electric vehicles. Gotcha.

He's not wrong. I for one loathe the idea of "the grid" buying my gasoline for $1/litre only to sell it back to me a few hours later at $1.30/litre.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Whole bunch of NG units that barely run were on at full throttle last night
Keep it up comrades, I need some more work when they inevitably stall out or blow up due to remote operators just sendin' 'er and giving zero fucks

I’m actually a bit surprised it’s that dramatic, our intramarket usage is peanuts compared to what we export.
Wonder if there are material freezeoffs driving this right now, I’m not as close to the gas market as I used to be, but storage was pretty damn full coming into all this.

There's probably a natural gas pricing mega thread or something but I'm too lazy to find it.
I'm interested in the AGA "heating degree days monthly report" that will be released about the 8th day of Feb. USA usage is much more meaningful to storage levels and prices than local Alberta.
But as I always say, every little bit helps. LNG exports, new NG electricity plants, cold snaps in Chicago, it all helps.
