Looking for a specific Toshiba model -- other than MemoryExpress, CompuSmart, Futureshop, Staples -- where else can I look?

bought my toshiba at best buy
If you go to the Univ (or know anyone who does), the Microstore sells them as well, probably cheaper than anyone else.
bestbuy is the way to go
low prices and a insanely good product warrenty coverage
I believe they cover theft....something which many stores doesnt offer
awesome, thanks guys -- I forgot all about Best Buy -- I hate giving Futureshop my money.
i got mine from Future crap haha, but only cause I got a free wireless router, no tax and $200 off reg price, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere. I have the ext warranty, so I might go in sometime and say theres something wrong with it haha.
I think they're the same company..Originally posted by awd

Yup, they bought'm back in Nov 2001.
Its even on Future Shop's website.
Future Shop stores are a division of Burnaby-based Best Buy Canada Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY)
I find BestBuy service marginally better than FS's. They take a little too long to ship for online orders and call you to confirm credit info too which I find a little excessive.
i bought mine at futureshop! the damn thing has a 4 year warrenty! and futureshop has already replaced the mother board, so im pretty happy with the service, oo ya they did it all for free in a week!
make sure you buy from a place that you don't have to worry about them being in business in 2 years when something might go wrong with your computer!

good point i cant see laptop depot staying around two long, especially with the slim margins in laptops
Laptop Depot is good, I would personally buy from Dell though because their stuff is better. If not I hear Memory express is now selling barebone laptops! Build your own!
Buy from London Drugs...one of the few electronics retailers that is entirely Canadian owned and operated. They compete with FS and BB, and the staff is not on commission so they dont pressure you to buy.
Ive had good experience buying stuff there...
Are you sure??? I thought London Drugs salespeople were on commission for sure? Why the tie and dress-shirt thing then when everyone else in London Drugs wears those blue aprons?? Anyway, you're still probably better off buying from Future Shop. Despite the slight chance you may feel some sales pressure cuz the guys are on commission, they're staff is the most knowledgable that I've experienced. If you're not sure what all the tech specs mean or you're not sure how to choose, having a salesperson that's knowledgable about the products is a big help. Of the few times I went to Worst Buy just for a browse, I asked for some help to see what the difference was between a couple of laptops and the guy was like "well, this one's this price and that one's that price". No shit, sherlock, I can read the price tag too. What else? "ummm.... this one's got bigger numbers on it, so it should be faster and stuff like that, right? uhhh... if you gimme a sec, I can find a manager for you.." I thought to myself, wtf?? Worst Buy may look neat and tidy and all, but that's mostly cuz they're new; just about every new place looks clean and posh. So what the fuck does it matter how tidy the place is when they're paying a bunch of kids to walk around merchandising just putting crap out on display when they don't even know what the product does in the first place. Trust me, if you want to have some peace of mind knowing that you're going to get something that you're actually going to like and meets all your needs, does what you asked for out of a machine, then talk to Future Shop where there should be someone who knows what's going on. I've only been to Worst Buy 2 or 3 times, so I try to stay away from there as much as possible.
Me too, nothing but good experiences with London Drugs computer and electronics.....betcha I've bought 20 things there over the last few years.Originally posted by irwineering420

Their warranty and service post purchase have always been great.
yea, buddy.....nobody ever thinks about London Drugs as an electronics/computer retailer. They're all about the customer....
