after you get it back, take some mothers metal polish to it for an hour or so. Or use a mouse sander with a polishing pad. If you need to borrow one let me know.
If you guys are polishing plenums/valve covers yourself, or even ceramic coating. I suggest you buy a used valve cover/part somewhere...(easy to find cheap on ebay) cause it may take quite a while...
just a suggestion...and then sell your old one when you finally swap it out.
