What do you do as a career? I'm a little at a loss how you would not know where to find conferences related to your job. If you follow any standards period you can almost bet there are numerous conferences on the topic. Then you have industry trade shows which cover specific topics. You do automation? Well there's huge conferences on that topic out in Germany if you are so inclined. Same goes with the academic side of things. Hell there's conferences on knitting too...

I've checked my professional association and nothing really of interest (except for a labor relations one I am attending at the end of the month) but I want something more technical. I've checked the Conference Board of Canada as well as the Canadian Electrical Association and so forth.
Tips?
Conferences I attend would have nothing to do with you

Here's a company that has built a big multinational business on presenting conferences. Maybe poke around their website to see what you can find? https://www.canadian-business-conferences.com/

and the most relevant one in Ontario you have to submit and present a paper for. Which I am not interested in or at that level in my career yet.
you don't have to submit a paper in order to attend a conference.

IEEE ESTMP conference? It's in Edmonton this year in March.
Lots of electrical technical seminars, panel discussions, and tutorials.
Spend a few days in Edmonton, watch a movie at the VIP theatre w/ beers lol.
Hell, I think I might be going to that too, budget pending haha.
Noob. You write a shit paper, they reject it, but you get free admission as a consolation prize.Originally posted by Cos

Make your own? Charge it to the company?
I'll meet you somewhere, then it'll seem legit. Vegas?
Make your own as well and let me know. I'll "register".
Find a city you want a vacation in -> Search for list of conferences when the weather is nice.
Unfortunately Power Gen International "Conference" is not in Vegas in 2016 but Orlando instead.
However Power Gen Europe is in Italy. Can't beat all expenses paid to Italy.

That is tight but doable in Vegas if you stay off strip.Originally posted by Cos
Would have to be somewhere in Canada. Dollar is killing our budget. If I have a $5k budget (don't actually know the budget, keep that a secret from us so we don't go crazy), that would only be $3500. Enough for a conference, daily starbucks, and super 8 breakfast package. LOL
My conference in Vegas in Nov only cost me ~$3500. That said, I should have looked into Germany one and it may have been not much more.
