Sorta an offshoot from the hobbies thread, but more focused on things people collect. Knowing some of you the way I do, I'm sure that there are some interesting collections in Beyond's basements or attics.
I'll start.
My younger brother and I collect Coleman gear, with a focus on white has and kerosene powered lanterns and stoves. Still growing our collection, but between the two of us we have kit dating back as far back as 1950.
Here are my 3 favourites which are in my personal set.
Coleman 550b Single burner backpacking stove (missing the mess kit).
Got this from Speedog's Uncle's estate. I had been looking for one of these for years when he told me he found one stuffed wayback in a garage. All it needed was a new generator. Use it on every backcountry trip.
Coleman 222a "backpacking" latern
Also got this from Speedog, as a hand me down. As you can see from the pics it is smaller than a standard latern. Subsequently parts are impossible to find and it only burns for 3 hours. Occasionally use it for its intended purpose, but mostly it is hand for car camping in the jeep or C30 cause it takes up so little space.
Coleman m1950 pocket stove (Vietnam era gift stove)
This is my favourite collector stove. I bought it from a guy on kijiji, wasn't even sure if it would light, I just wanted it as a cool antique. Sure enough, when I got it home it held pressure and lit on the first try. After a few outings it tried to burn me and then the forest down due to worn rubber seals and such. After a 5 dollar repair kit out of the states it burns properly now and doesn't try to explode. Might make a YouTube video on it eventually cause this really was an ingenious design, essentially an updated smaller version of the stove coleman made for the USA in WW2.
Show me what you got!
