Just to throw this out there, IMO, power is equally as important as the speaker itself. If you're not running proper wattage to the speaker, it doesn't matter what brand you go with, it won't sound it's best. Hopefully we've all already taken care of that one though.

Focal K2p have a very nice sound, but have you considered the Boston SPZ line. They have a nice smooth sound. We put in a set of type-X a few weeks ago, and they almost made my ears bleed. They seem very harsh, and definetly not my taste. As for CDT, I have been told they sound good, but I haven't experienced it myself. The Pioneer PRS blew me away. I didn't expect that kind of sound from pioneer. For the price they are worth every penny, but they are not really in the same league as the k2p or spz.

Best advice, listen to as many as possible with your own music, and not MP3.

It's around the net that the 6500's are a CDT HD-62 driver with a better crossover... I can't remember what they said on the back of them for sure, been quite a while since I put them in.. They sound good is all I know, and I'm not into dumping money into this stuff anymore, so they'll have to do..
