What year was that Jimmy. Couple things I would check into because the vortec uses very high fuel pressure(needs to to fire the injectors). I am not shure if the ZEX smart system(yes whatever) will work well with that vehicle. Might think about looking into a higher quality wet system. Where tricking the FPR is not needed. The Vortec uses a poppet style injector which in a sense kinda fires the injector much the same as a diesel. Minnimum running Fuel pressure is 47 psi. If I recall it is over 65 psi.
I need to look into it farther but I do not believe that truck even has a return line FPR in which case you will need to look into a wet system. I could be wrong about that tho. Just took a quick look at some vacuum diagrams for that truck and did not see an FPR but once again it was quick.
Before adding any nitrous system ( i recommend NX kit number 20920-10) I would do a leak down test. Very low K's Althought I just removed a SC of a mustang that was supposed to have low k's and I can not believe the wear in the cylinders. I say a leak down not a compression test so you have a true evaluation of the internal condition of an engine.
The second thing is I would do a complete check over of the ignition system. I know two people who have lost engines over sparkplugs and ignition wires. I know one who lost an engine over a ground wire on a scavenge type spark system.

Your going to have to go with a colder plug, maybe new fuel pump.

Congrats on the descision to install nitrous oxide!
Here is a link to a site with a great deal of information on nitrous and 4.3 chevys.
http://forums.s-series.org/index.php
I have been on that site for several years, and have seen many kits installed.
Have you already purchased the Zex kit? If not I would recommend a wet kit. (NOS,NX,Compucar, etc.)
I am running stock internals with bolt-ons and have been quite successful running 90hp jets. I know people that have run as much as 125hp kits on these trucks with stock internals.
I would suggest starting with 50hp jets and working your way up to a maximum of 100hp.
Pm me and I will give you my phone number if you want some specifics.

So what's the status on the install bro?

If you are serious about looking for power out of that truck I can also do custom ecu's. All kinds of neat features like turning the rear 02 sensor off so you can loose the cats.

Red Deer yes like torque management control. All I need is a VIN number and in about three days you will have a replacement ECU

So you don't even lose the ability to drive your truck while you wait.
