D-Sport ProAm Series: May 7th First Practice and Barbeque

Hey guys.

So the first practice is under a week away so we don't have a lot of time here, haha.

They are forcasting rain for Wed but with weather people who friggen knows, haha.

Anyway, because we're not sure everyone will have cars ready, hopefully it is a nice day and we'll run a barbeque, probably sell burgers and hot dogs and pop/chips and shit for a couple bucks.

Anyway, basically come on out, watch some drifting, hang out with all your drifting buddies, and we'll have a wicked kick off to the 2008 Pro-Am season.

So come from Lethbridge/Edmonton/Red Deer/Wherever the hell you live and hang out with cool bro's and eat weiners.

Race City gates will open at 5 PM and the driving will go from 6 to 10. Tech is from 5 to 6, but I will let people in after 6, you just might be waiting a few minutes for tech.

Drivers - $30
Spectators - $5

There will be no spectators allowed on the track or in the staging areas this year. Ride alongs will be allowed as always, but they better be wearing a wristband and have a proper helmet too.

ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL.

Tech will be basic things. Snell helmet, tread on tires, all lugnuts, no floormats, battery tie down, no loose objects, etc, etc, you guys know the drill.

Will you guys be holding any beginner clinics this year?

Ummm, that's not something we're totally sure on at the moment.

That being said, I think we will end up doing it.

If you are a total beginner, I can do some ridealongs or something and give you some pointers, start out with donuts/figure 8's and then progress to the course, too many guys just start learning on an actual course before they know how to control a slide, haha. Some guys are naturals at it, others aren't.

But ya, the clinic last year in edmonton went really well and helped quite a few guys out, so it'd be a shame if we didn't do one this year.

won't be making it out unfortunately. car isn't done yet My radiator just came in this morning and I still have to finish wiring up the electric fan control and find a LSD.

pretty good turnout considering the weather, looked very fun.


and it was my first time seeing the road course being raced on.

very nice Porsche ripping up the road course.

a lot of drifting talent, i remember the one nice older 340 (blue) from last year, still looks like hes practicing and still trying to get the hang of it, but it was nice to see some persistence, looks like hes getting better.


its a bit of a shame that the infield is so torn up and rutted, otherwise there would likely be some more cars drifting, but tearing up pavement and powering through the dirt is pretty cool to watch.

With the puddles and forecast and cold weather we'll be cancelling the practice tonight. Tell everyone you can so Race City doesn't get too many people going there thinking there's drifting or people jacking around.
