    Default Maintenance

I know with my Honda I'm supposed to get my timing chain replaced at about 100K.

I'm just wondering something....currently I'm about to hit 102K and can't do this maintenance probably until the end of October so I'm wondering if this is a HUGE deal at all.

Also any idea's how much it costs from a dealership to get this done?

dealership is more expensive man...i did mine long time ago at the dealership, back when i didn't know how to do it myself, and they charged me for 3 hours of work...at $95/hour I dont think you have a chain, but rather a belt. If you can somehow take the valve cover off and look at the belt look for any cracks in it. there shouldn't be a problem...i changed mine on my neon at abou 130 so i wouldn't worry about it too much

change it asap... if it brakes it may bend some valves... then you can say bye bye to your engine.

Open your valve cover, and lift up the drivers side wheel.

Turn the crank nut with a ratchet (it's by the driver's side wheel well) and look very closely for any signs of cracks, stress, or missing teeth. If you notice any of that, change it asap. If not, wait til October.

It's very expensive to do, but look for a cheap mechanic. It's not hard to do at all, and it sure beats paying Honda $600 to have it done, when you can do it through a private mechanic for less than half.

Change is asap. You have a belt in your car.

I got mine done on my 98 accord last year for $400 total. Not bad I hear some Honda mechanics will also do it at their houses for $200 if you know a honda mechanic .

Also Honda runs coupons for things like this every now and then.

189.95 to change 30 dollar belt.

That ... is ludicrous i would never spend that. (but that's me.)

Yah I messed up I meant belt.

I talked to Crowfoot Honda and they said they do it for $250 plus tax and shop materials.

I don't have any time to do it anytime soon...think I'll just drop it off to them.
