CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Just after 2:00 PM on Saturday June 28th, 2009, a Honda Civic
was eastbound on Richmond Rd. through 37 Street S.W. when the
lone 31 year old male driver suffered a suspected seizure and
rear-ended a car in front of him. The Civic then lost control
and left the road and drove onto the right sidewalk through a
glass bus shelter, striking an 60-70 year old woman standing
at the bus stop. The car then carried on, through a nearby
residential fence and came to rest against a house. The home
did not have any structural damage.
Both parties were transported to Hospital. The male suffered
a suspected seizure but is expected to recover. Remarkably,
the female pedestrian only received minor injuries. Had she
been sitting inside the shelter, her injuries could have been
fatal, as the shelter was completely demolished.
The occupant of the other vehicle originally rear-ended, was
not injured.
Obvioulsy, no charges are contemplated.
