    Default Tailgate @ Stampeders games?

    Is tailgating allowed here?

Going to the Labour Day Classic, not sure if it is encouraged here or not.

I heard they are cracking down this year and no alcohol allowed, I could be mistaken though...

    From the Stamps website

We wish to remind everyone that open alcohol on the McMahon Stadium parking lot is unlawful.

They have been cracking down on it this year after too many drunk fans at the games last season.

Last season you would see some guys needing to be helped up the stairs and into their seats BEFORE the game even started because they were so drunk from tailgating.

I suspect the only people that will be complaining about this are the people who would pre-drink their discount beer prior to the game because they are too cheap to buy beer at McMahon.

I was at a game in August and tailgating before hand, lots of beer, food and cops, and there were no issues at all...

I am sure they are not going to kick you out for having a beer at a tailgate party.
Unless of course they have those damn yellow t-shirt security guards walking around. They will probably freak out over it.

Not trying to be a killjoy here, but from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Act...

    Public place

89(1) Except as provided in this Act, no person may use or consume liquor in a public place or any place other than a residence, temporary residence, licensed premises or a place or class of place prescribed in the regulations where liquor may be used or consumed.

    (2) Despite subsection (1), a person may consume liquor with food in a public park in a picnic area designated by the owner or operator of the public park during the hours designated by the owner or operator if a sign is posted that

    (a) states that a person may consume liquor with food in the designated picnic area,

    (b) sets out the designated picnic area, and

    (c) sets out the hours when liquor may be consumed with food.

    (3) A person must stop consuming liquor in a designated picnic area if a peace officer on reasonable and probable grounds believes that the person is intoxicated or is not consuming food while consuming liquor in a designated picnic area and the peace officer requests that person to stop consuming liquor.

    1996 cG‑0.5 s86

    Unauthorized places

90 An owner or operator, or an employee or agent of an owner or operator, of a place that is not

    (a) a residence,

    (b) a temporary residence,

    (c) licensed premises,

    (d) a place prescribed in the regulations where liquor may be stored, used or consumed, or

    (e) a picnic area in a public park that is designated and where a sign is posted in accordance with section 89(2),

may not knowingly allow a person to possess, use or consume any liquor at that place.

    1996 cG‑0.5 s87

    ................

So as the McMahon stadium parking lot does not fit into any of the above five categories in section 90, it would appear that those damn yellow t-shirt security guards are well within their authority. Now you could legally drink in the camper that is mounted on the back of your pick-up, but stepping into the parking lot with any liquor in hand would violate the above quoted act.

oh yeah, it may be illegal, and they may be reminding you that it is, but i think it is more of the CPS will enforce it if it becomes needed for people that are pushing things too far.

when your paying 6.25 a can in the stadium any beer you buy would be considered "cheap beer"

McMahon's beer is cheap compared to the Saddledome.
$6.25 for a can at the Stamps games, and is it $7.50 for shi**y draft at Flames?

Id rather pay the $6.25 any day.

The cops are definitely cracking down on this. They give out tickets and summons to those that are really pushing it, but you still see a ton of beer floating around. I think if you keep it under wraps, don't run around freaking out, and put it away when the cops come by you should be fine.
