I've played against a couple beyonders in the NCHL in the past.... anyone still play in the league?
Any thoughts on the upcoming winter season? Anyone playing in Division A or B this time around.

can we make this an official mens winter hockey league thread haha....
i played in nchl in the summer a year go but found it to strict when it comes to penalties and everything.
currently have a team in div 1 in the cahl. www.cahl.ca

In Div E South this year, it's a decent league, like desmarez said above, super strict with penalties. Ice times are pretty brutal too.

i played North B this past summer, anyone have any open roster spots for a D or F?
Any open spots for 2 forwards pm me.
Thanks.
Mr. Peanut (Niel): George... I win
imo there are lots of problems with the nchl penalties system. I have played in the league, i have reffed in the league and i definitely dont like it.
Instead of having shootout and wasting the ice time why not just hand out harsher / more consistent suspensions?
I find that the only really good thing about the NCHL is the fact that they're pretty good at purging out the douche bag players (and teams) that are just there to goon it up.Originally posted by dezmarez

HNA Div 11 here.
I play in WRAHL div 4, played in NCHL for a couple years too
Played in NCHL Div B South this past summer.. and in ARCHL this winter.. Not sure which division.
I much prefer ARCHL simply because of the 6 penalty rule..

this is true,
but i think it gives the refs far to much control,
haha but its so true about the dbags...i find that there are far more douchebags in this mens rec stuff then i ever had playing jr. b or any other hockey for that matter....
if you think about it...
6 tripping penalties is not the same thing as
two cross check,
one elbow,
one spear,
two rough....
and you cant even fight at all!! haha
but even the cahl came out with some new rules where they have tightened things up...
however i just got an email today saying that they are taking out the red line..(in theory) so icings will be from the far blue line, and no two line passes

As a ref, I hate it when normal penalties get add up really quick. Its really easy to get to 6... Especially in a good game, I hate to give out the 6th+ penalty. It puts too much stress on us.Originally posted by dezmarez

ya exactly,
in an intense game stuff is going to happen,
the double loss is just dumb, when both teams get 6 plus penalties
i remember playing last summer and the shoot outs started after 4 penalties? (i cant remember) and just like that we would be up...
cahl is good because there is no automatic loss based on penalties...they do have a 3 penalty limit for a player who is then ejected from the game, and i'm ok with this because even in minor hockey the max is 5 before you are ejected, or 3 stick infractions
i play on the "brewstars"

Holy crap..... new ref's this season
One guy could not skate.... he had to drag his skate to stop.... he didn't know what a delayed offside was and he must have blow the play down 3 or 4 times cause he was confussed with penalties, icing, etc etc.
Anyone playing in the WRAHL? we're in div 3 this year. it's a pretty big league, there's got to be a beyonder or two in the wrahl
