The "must haves" of the PS3?

So, I'm new to the PS3. I've been a PS2 owner in the past, and I was an X360 fanboy before I got my head outta my ass and realized that console loyalty in this modern age is kinda pointless. My end goal is to have one of each console (X360, Wii, PS3) by the end of the summer, however, the focus of this thread is my PlayStation 3.

I'm looking to build a good base for the PS3, and have started that with Final Fantasy XIII, Brutal Legend and Resistance: Fall of Man (RPG, action adventure, and FPS respectively, should speak to my interests. I also love GOOD platformers (I already bought MegaMan 9 and MegaMan 10 on PSN, despite owning MM9 on XBL :P))

I also have Heavenly Sword, Assassin's Creed and Bionic Commando (hey, I'm a sucker for the $10 used special )

So, I come with an open mind to all of you who have gone before me into the annals of PS3 gamedom, and humbly request suggestions to build my library of awesome.

Oh, I'm also picking up DiRT today, I do love good racing/rally games, and I tried MotorStorm and I don't like it.

Uncharted2 is supposed to be the best looking game to come out for the system from what I've read, I haven't played it though and I'm not sure if it's still the case.

I highly recommend the PixelJunk games on PSN, Shooter and Monsters are my favorite.

I'm playing Uncharted 2 right now and it is a fantastic looking game.. but its also a fun game, with some great characters, voice acting and script writing. Its like a modern Indiana Jones game.. and its Raiders of the Ark good IMO

God of War III also another good one, plus the God of War I & II HD remix pack if you haven't played those already.

Modern Warfare 2... skip that game. It is a steaming heap of shit.

PixelJunk Monsters is a cheekly little tower defense game that will suck away a week of your life. It's co-op multiplayer too, so you and a buddy can give it hell together.

PixelJunk Shooter is a top-down scroller that is also two player. Very cool game, very very cool.

Uncharted 1 and 2 are like playing movies. Excellent graphics, beautiful gameplay, excellent gunplay. The second is the better of the two, but that only means that it is that much MORE exceptional. Uncharted 1 blew me away when I played it.

Killzone 2 is fun if you're a shooter fan. Try it out

LittleBigPlanet is a hilarious platformer that is tongue-in-cheek. User created levels and downloadables make the game infinitely replayable. Love it. I play it all the time (up to four can play).

If you already have Resistance, get Resistance 2... a MUCH bigger, badder, funner game. Two player multiplayer is sweet

If your looking for something fun to do for a while Uncharted 2 is your best bet
online: Cod MW2 or BC 2

oh and GOW3 skip FF13 not as good as the other FF if your a fan

I think SE needs to listen to all the fans... don't waste your money and time on dubs!

For the story I loved it, sure it's confusing at times but it's not a JRPG if it's not.

Oh yeah... I definitely recommend the Uncharted series.

It hasn't really been confusing to me, then again, I've probably spent a couple hours of my playtime reading datalogs as soon as they're added XD There is a cubic fuckton of information in those little snippets, so that the game presents as a kind of movie you watch after reading the companion book.

I'm actually now on the hunt for used copies of both Uncharted's, as those seem to be the most recommended in this thread so far.

a splitfish frag FX, i've used it for about 80% of the games i have for PS3, call it cheating, i call it best console controller EVER.. almost every shooter is better with it imo for obvious aiming control reasons.

if 360 had one, i'd already have bought one too

edit: its killer in uncharted 2 MP!
