Default Wifi issue, or weather station issue?

Having problems with the WiFi connection on my wife's Accurite Iris weather station.
It uses 2.4ghz WiFi, and in its location signal is decent at -52 db. Now admittedly this is the far end of the house from the router, but that should be fine, right?

Its just the shaw router, which has had excellent coverage for everything else.

Connection between outside weather station and inside base station has been very solid. There's a direct line of sight with only one window in the way.

Anyone know more about these weather stations?

2.4ghz will have a shit ton of traffic due to access point overlap. Grab a wifi analyzer tool and figure out a channel if possible with less traffic.

Also Shaw modems wifi is less than desireable.

Tbh the coverage has been fantastic on 5ghz even compare to the mesh I was running before.

    Yeah probably a channel issue.

What is the output from station itself?

You can have -50db all day long from a super powerful AP 1km away, but if your device can't transmit back, it aint gonna work. You'll need a relay, not a booster.

This is an interesting question that I am not sure how to answer. is it one of the many "hiddenssid" signals in my wifi analyzer?

Does it work when you get closer to your AP? It could very well be that the transmit on the station is weak sauce which would cause your problem.

Moved the base station to the office, 3 feet from the router, and the outdoor sensor to the front yard, 10 feet from the base station. Will get the wife to mess around with the software today. This should tell me if it's a signal strength issue or a configuration problem.

Hmmm. Connects to WiFi just fine but won't stay connected.

Its weird, the issues started when we set up the wundergroud account, but it feels like it's an issue between the base station and the router, which shouldn't have changed when we connected the accounts online. Confusing.

The next thing I would try is resetting the device factory fresh and connecting while 3ft from the AP. If that doesn't work, maybe the unit is defective or on old firmware.

factory reset sems to ahve fixed the first part of the problem with everything in temporary locations at the front of the house. Will monitor connection stability and then see if we can get it all connected to wunderground.

Set a static IP for it in your router admin settings. Then in the product.
Then should stay locked to your ip.

Well a fresh restart of the device with all settings wiped seems to have worked. Wundergroud ical404 is active.

Everyone can use a new start to solve things.
Maybe a custom license plate to mark the date?

I was trying to find the Forrest Gump new years "everyone deserves a second chance" gif to go here.

Anyway, shit seems to work. Zero changes to router, and seems like none are possible unless I bridge and go bavk to Asus. Damned Rogersshaw.
