I wish I got a picture of my car at 7000rpm and 295km/h. It's tough taking pictures at that speed =).

I got the speedo in my 330Ci to get to 280 doing that :P
i call speedo cable error on that pic. I bet he is doing no more then 230km/h in real life
I did that at a rallycross in the start box. I had the speedo up to about 60kph in first gear before the studs finally grabbed. Nice big fat patch of ice to sit on right at the start line. You know its slick when an all wheel drive car with studded snow tires has trouble getting moving.Originally posted by bol

My speedo on stock 16" tires shows way too high on the 944. 200km/h on the speedo, 188km/h on the road. On larger 18" wheels, 200km/h on the speedo is 201km/h on the road. I'm assuming that my calibrated Blitz Power Meter is accurate of course.

I don't think it matters. Remember that road and track top speed test a few years back with the McLaren F1? It's Speedo read 231mph when it really was only going 205 I think. I might be off with the numbers a little but you get the point.Originally posted by legendboy

You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
High speed drag can do interesting things to your speedo readings.
How so?
