Default Washing your car on your driveway=Fine

Even if you use biodegradable soap, you can still be fined for washing your car on your driveway if the water is going into the sewer system. Just wondering how many people have actually been fined for this. I did email the city to get confirmation on this, and it is true.

Is that for all of Canada?

They'll do that BUT they won't go after all the industrial and commercial businesses dumping all kinds of fucked up shit into our lakes and rivers.

Ive only heard of this in Alberta, Ontario there is no law on this.

So I called 3 EPS stations and all 3 said they have never heard of anyone getting a ticket from washing your car in your driveway. They said its just like the law of playing street hockey. Its technically illegal, but they do not enforce it, nor have any of the 3 heard of anyone getting a ticket for this.

So I really wouldnt worry about it, wash away. I do.

so what do car washes do, have filtration systems for their waste water?

I mean, we wash laundry and dishes and take showers and all that crap goes into city sewage

Ive always wondered that as well. Theres got to be much worse things going into the sewers than the odd splash of turtle wax car soap.

if you wash your car on the drive way, the water flows into the storm water system that goes straight to the river. if you flush something down the drain in the house, the water goes in to the sewage water system, and goes to the cleaning facility to be cleaned before being dumped into the river

It's 'illegal' in lethbridge as well, but that never stopped me and I never did hear of anyone getting fined.

I would guess every two days isnt exactly healthy for a cars paint.
