photographers ruining it for everyone else (rant inside)

I'm here in Hawaii, and recent got a chance to shoot some turtles that rest on the beach by paia, behind a roped off area the avoid harassing the wildlife. When I got back, and uploaded the photos on instagram, I noticed 3 lifestyle photographers had taken a selfie inches away from a beached turtle, surrounding it on all sides. Unfortunately all three also seemed to be from calgary

Besides the poor representation for calgarians/Canadians as a whole, and the crowding of a wild animal, I have to think this is the exact reason why photography gets banned from certain areas. I read anther story recently where several tourists and photographers ignored roped off areas in Hawaii to get a better shot of lava flows.

It got me thinking, what do you do when you see others clearly ignoring rules to get their shot? Any specific horror stories?

I'm glad they aren't actually touching it at least. Lots of people do get close to them, and because of that they really only have the ropes in the high traffic tourist areas. Lots of times you can find turtles randomly up on the beach soaking up the sun, away from the high traffic areas. Wouldn't ever recommend touching them though, because if anybody sees, they will tear a strip off ya. Or the locals will beat the shit out of ya.

I actually almost stepped on one at one point, because I was hopping along volcanic rocks in the sand, and they are damn near the same colour. Fortunately I noticed it soon enough, and didn't jump on it.

I generally hate photographers. In fact , the next fob that bumps into me wearing a tactical vest, tilly hat with a canon is getting his shit pitched into the harbor. Oops..Victoria is the worst for this. But it's tourist central..

Isn't the fine something like $25K for harassing wildlife (turtles, Humpbacks, etc.)? Save the photo and send it to the appropriate authorities.

Nobody is worse than Chinese tourists that want to take pictures. I've never seen anything so bad haha.
