I bet they are in trouble for not seeding that storm on Saturday.Originally posted by cyra1ax
They must be extremely happy with the amount of work that they've been gifted with this year.

I still have hail all around my yard from yesterday that hasn't melted. I should do a walk around my house. Lilac bush looks destroyed from my house so want to check the rest of the plants as wella s go up on my roof. Iwasn't even home to witness the storm.
Down in Somerset area
Just got home last night, we did get hit pretty bad. Siding has holes in it on house and garage, eavestrough looks like it's been attacked with a ball-peen hammer. Roof is probably damaged but I can't tell from the ground. Trees and garden are shredded.
Jeep was parked on the pad, looks like it'll be getting another replacement hood. Hailstorm #3 for that vehicle, haha.
No planes? How do you figure that? Their historical records show 4 planes in the air around 5:20PM and 3 of those were in the Calgary area - all UTC time so subtract 6 hours.Originally posted by guessboi

The difference the planes make is to reduce the size and the area of the damaging hail. Turns a billion dollar mass-claim into several millions.Originally posted by guessboi

Even with all planes up, there is no 100% effective hail reduction system in place at this time but if they can lessen the impact, the better.
Further inspection reveals that the trailer has had the vents smashed out, my tin shed has been raped, the gutters on the house are dented to shit, and there are some busted up shingles on the house as well. I have already sent an email to my broker to open vehicle and house claims.

I didn't know that AC flies the 787 to places other than Tokyo out of Calgary.
Mine already went up this year due to the higher possibility of a hail claim.Originally posted by guessboi

Have any of you guys used a roofing company to help with your claim? My roof is close to needing to be replaced so I don't think a claim is worth it, but some guys were going door-to-door today checking roofs out. Then saying they will help you get the most you can from the insurance company.
^ they will say anything to get you to sign up. It appears that there is a large discrepancy between the insurance companies where one will deny a hail claim and a different one will be ok - even in the same area with similar-aged roofs.

Only pea size hail up here at Hamptons. I heard Panorama/Coventry was hit hard and looking at the map, looks like it's mostly NE. I guess it wasn't as bad west of Shag?
Or are we looking at hail sale at Royal Oak Auto Mall again?
None of this recent hail sounds like it was as big as the stuff that hit the northern part of Calgary in 2012 - we had tennis ball sized hailstones on our lawn and baseball sized stuff was hitting our SUV when we were caught out in it. Still, the stuff people have seen this week is quite damaging as well.
Will fuck off, again.
That was a bad year. I think this year has just been the constant hail, it's not tennis sized, but just non stop hail after hail which is starting to take it's toll on minor things. Like my roof. Fuck you roof, fall apart this year all you want, the budget is still for next yearOriginally posted by speedog

Business class has higher chance of death in a case of an accident...he did the smart thing, sit in the strongest part of the plane I always sit at the wings.Originally posted by Buster
No business class?
C'mon dude....
Hailed like mad at my place, but small pea sized hail, no real damage to anything, it did strip some paint of my newly painted deck.
My wife's 2015 Jeep GC got destroyed by the hail, do they fix it when every panel is hit multiple times or do they just write the vehicle off?
I like cars.
Every plane crash film I have seen has the guys in the middle sucked out first. The pilots are always killed but fully intact in the cockpit, while the passengers in both ends miraculously survive. I guess you always need someone from first class to survive to screw something up later.Originally posted by eblend

well, it took less than 24 hours after buying the new truck to get damaged. Thankfully the damage is pretty light. 5 or 6 light dents and I already have an in to get those fixed.
My Tonneau cover on the other hand is beat up fairly good now. Trying to decide if I want to make an insurance claim on it or not, or if it is worth it. To replace it, these things are like $1300 now...
