does it even make sense to built a 4plex in the middle of a single family homes in an area like Aspen? realistically most of those houses are not tear downs so they aren't really going to be going up there anyways is my thought.

areas where there are tear downs is probably where you'll see the duplex and townhomes go up.

The entire community of aspen is a tear-down.

Do you live in a different Aspen? Cars are parked every spot they can wiggle one in where theres a slice of grass
People park in their garage. Never see anyone parking on the street.

From a developer's point of view, it will come down to where they can maximize profits. If that means Aspen with a view of the mountains costs a lot to acquire the land but can sell 4xrowhouse each unit for 1MM+, might be a worthwhile endeavor.

    You shut your whore mouth!!!!
This is all about #AffordableHousing and #EcoSustainable centralized living so we stop carboning all over the definitely non-infinite atmosphere and cool the planet back down because the power is in the hands of us 1.4 million people.
It will be unethical to profit from such beneficial work and should be illegal.

I guess if you only have a couple guests over, but what about big events? Nowhere to park.

Genpop wants two or perhaps three things that are mutually exclusive. It's the proud tradition of nimby-ism that fucks us in its many forms.

Also: a bunch of cars parked on a street is way fucking uglier than front garages. If you're driving through one of the "desirable urban communities" in Calgary, you don't realize what a fucking eyesore 50 cars in a row parked at the curb actually is.

I mean, look at this shit:

What can a developer put on a 30' lot? A single house or is there a way to put more on there?
I have seen front back in Sunalta similar to this but probably wider than 30' tho...

I'm on a small block that turns into a one way. only 4 houses on my block (including my duplex). Two of the house have already been tore down to be massive single family. The remaining older home is just chillin beside me complaining about my build. don't see parking really ever being an issue for me.

+1 for Cul De Sac with a park in the middle, oodles of parking on our street for “events”.

I'd much sooner walk around that neighbourhood though. Separated sidewalks with grass on both sides and not have to worry about karen backing out of her driveway without looking.

I'm worried about my Cresent. Lots of original homes(all well kept, but not renovated much) currently a couple houses park on the street. My being one of then. One house on the far end is an up/down rental. I hope the land value is too high to avoid them being profitable for duplex/quadplex etc...time will tell. I'm not opposed to moving to an acreage if it comes down to it, but bought where we are to be close to schools while the kids are of that age.

Heaven forbid someone park up the street from the culdesac and walk 150m to 89Coupe's birthday party - they might scuff up their Tom Fords!

So a list of "events" where a bunch of dudes stand in a circle. Center cookie optional.
