The Rod Farva haircut is better than the mullets and sex-offender moustaches that Canadians go for these days
I spent the last three years going back and forth to a project in Greenville. Loved it. Lots of good food, breweries, parks and the "mountains" aren't too far. Charleston, Atlanta, and Charlotte are a reasonable drive away. Greenville is growing, but still not big city crazy. Lots of EPC companies have offices there, so a reasonably educated workforce. And it passed the wife test when she came down with me, she'd be more than happy for me to find a job there. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I lived in Chula Vista, just really southern San Diego IMO for a year or so - love to go back to San Diego, if only it wasn't located in the Socialist empire of California (not talking geographically, more of an if only it could be it's own state, without any Democrats). If you think Trudeau is bad, just move to California. I also lived around a year total in New Hampshire (Sig Sauer's HQ in the USA). Hard pass for living there.
Texas, I can think of a 1/2 places I'd like to live, for dozens of good reasons.
Florida - I used to vacation there in the 2000s frequently as a friend owns a dive boat and touring operation at Daytona Beach, but I'm not sure living there would be a good option these days.
Utah - TONS of areas to just go out and practice long range shooting (you can't really do that in Texas, unless at a certified range, there really is no free fire zones), also tons of places to do off road adventure biking and that sort of thing. So for those 2 activities it'd be a lot of fun, I sure had fun doing both when I was in Utah a couple times staying with friends.
Scottsdale - my family too is in Scottsdale, at least a large portion of one side of my family. I can hack it year round there, I've been down in summer many times before, I tend to do well in the heat, always much preferred it to the cold - even in the mid east where I was I loved the heat there. It'd be uncomfortable for some weeks here and there in Arizona, but I think it'd be my #1, Texas #2, Utah #3, and visit California to drive fast and hoon around with friends maybe every couple of months.
Yea, but these types are some of the nicest folks you will meet in the state. Would much rather them, than the thick brimmed glasses, lu-lu lemon, woman's rights cucks and fat, blue haired, triggered, two spirits that are wrecking our country. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Having lived in America on and off for the past decade, I lived in Atlanta, LA (MDL/Venice) & Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach. My vote would be for Florida. I would stay away from California. From how you described your situation, I would suggest Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee or Arizona. While each state has cities that have grown/boomed and gotten more expensive, there are still reasonable housing options and the weather is good with people that are mostly friendly.
There are cons, like everyone has a gun, healthcare is expensive and others. With all of that, I would still move back to Florida.

I've lived in Texas and Louisiana before. I'd move back to Texas or I'd move to Montana.

Nashville is probably my second favourite US city, after San Diego. Been there a few times and it is quite clean and modern. If I liked country music (I don't) Nashville might be my favourite US city. The same can't be said about Memphis - it's very rough. Love its music history way more than Nashville's but Memphis is still very run down (think St. Louis or New Orleans outside of the French Quarter). Visited Eastern Tennessee last January (Chattanooga and Knoxville) and I didn't find them particularly interesting and there was little to do. They're pretty small towns each with a population under 200,000. Visited Gatlinburg in 2018 and it's neat, but certainly a tourist trap. IMO Nashville and the surrounding areas (Murfreesboro is nice) are the only parts of Tennessee I'd ever consider. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Other places in the US I like are Austin, San Antonio, Philadelphia, Santa Fe, and Boise (surprised I don't hear mention of Boise and its suburbs more often - Boise is a hidden gem IMO). The number of US cities/places I dislike far outnumbers the list of places I enjoy, however. Houston, Phoenix, Charlotte, Tampa, Ohio, Connecticut, the Dakotas, Kansas, Nebraska, Kentucky outside of Louisville, Indiana outside of Indianapolis (Indianapolis exceeded my expectations), Michigan, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Albany/Syracuse/Rochester - though I found Buffalo to be surprisingly OK...
Did this a couple times and got Utah each time.....don't know if it's possible to get another state...
