Why though. Spending all that time, thought and energy to design a home, envisioning one that you would live in, actually go through the process of moving, and then leave? Doesn't compute. They can't be short of change either.
    Because money.
They will walk away (presumably) several million in profit.
    It's a business.

Have family friends who do this… they just love the process of putting together a new place. It’s done them well too

That's a reasonable cause for divorce.

I saw this one pop up as a new listing and thought it was just another cookie cutter new build with an ambitious ask... And then I thought, "wait, where's Malibu Road? I feel like I recognize that street"...

So I checked the map and it quickly went from priced ambitiously to, "are you out of your fucking mind?!?"... What's all that noise? Oh, that's just GLENMORE FUCKING TRAIL, running through your backyard

Statscan population numbers are out. Calgary and area leading the way once again growing 6% or 100,000 people over the past year. Hard to think housing can do anything except continue to skyrocket.

Calgary population surges by staggering 6%, Edmonton by 4.2% in latest StatsCan estimates | CBC News

The beggars are the ones demanding higher density housing in neighborhoods that are decades established, ignorantly thinking housing prices will magically go down.
It will go down, you just replace a single 1.2M unit with six 1.1M units.

Helping my cousin looking at White Rock/South Surrey, that's what's happening.

    1.1 is less than 1.2 - that's affordability!
