Thought this needed it's own thread. Some portion of this may be related to the current 2023 Israel-Palestine war, although its a tenuous connection.
Shipping through the Red Sea has been suspended by Maersk and Happag-Lloyd due to security issues in the Yemen-controlled strait. Ships have recently been attacked by missiles, helicopters, and speedboat.
Traffic through the Suez Canal must transit this strait to reach Europe and Asia.
I'd guess the US navy has at times provided some security in this area, but it maybe occupied closer to Iran and Israel, which are several thousand kilometers away.
Could have a big impact on European countries, and global trade.
