Just got back from the Bahamas. Rolex store was completely empty, yet they had staff working in there. So bizarre.
That is called a money laundering scheme.

I don't know if you're trolling but same thing at the Rolex in Aruba, they only had a lady date just 31mm on display that was already spoken for. Store had like 6 employees working, not sure what the fuck they were doing. Probably only need one to tell the customers that there is no stock.

There is stock at a lot of these Rolex dealers, but they won't pull it out. You want a 10k stainless steel sports watch, then you might get offered one if you buy a harder to sell solid gold or gold/stainless with diamond markers model, or perhaps a bunch of jewelry for your spouse. The dealers are playing games and have been doing it for a while.

Who aren't you laughing at these days?

    Rolex buyers - bad.
Porsche, or other sports car (whether contemporary or vintage) buyers - bad.

Who gets the Buster Seal of Approval®? Surely not Realtors®...

I assume the crossover is significant between the two markets - people driven by external validation.

If people didn’t want to be laughed at they shouldn’t have been so damn funny

i turned down a 36mm datejust w/ palm motif dial as it had the diamond hour markers. I think retail was like $16k on that model at the time in 2022. just didn't see the value there as I could have bought a 76213 tudor date-day brand new, a 73090 mini-sub for the wife, and had enough left over for a vintage 1601. We'll see if they ever call me for another palm motif w/o diamond markers or my GMT-II i'm after...

You have to be selected to get a Rolex nowadays? It adds to the allure I guess

What's your angle on the super expensive pants and shoes then? if not for External Validation, as you post them openly on the internet for all to see.......

Try walking around with no pants and see how far you get.

    Then again it’s 2023.

I think drawing parallels between Porsches and Rolexes is very apt.

The Calgary one is the same; has staff on hand but only demo pieces. I'm sure some people get the lucky call or get chosen like @littledan
